The Chief Medical Office (CMO) guides the enterprise to meet the needs of patients today and tomorrow. The CMO organization spans the enterprise and all stages of the drug development pipeline covering Global Patient Safety, Patient Science, R&A Quality Assurance and R&D Clinical sciences.

Global Patient Safety and Patient Science protects people's health by identifying, predicting, and preventing adverse effects in our medicines. Our team is changing, and we are building a global team passionate about patient safety in the drug development process.

The **Senior Director, Business Planning & Operations, Chief Medical Office **will support Global Patient Safety & Patient Science and will play a pivotal role in supporting the leadership team (LT) in making a positive impact on changing patients’ lives.

This position will be accountable for effective functioning of the LT. Working closely with the Chief Safety Officer and the LT, you will optimise strategic planning, provide operational support to defining and delivering the GPS and Patient Science goals, ensure alignment of activities and key messages within and beyond GPS and PS. You will build positive relationships internally and externally and in some cases directly support and / or drive high priority initiatives, drive operational excellence and own process improvements. As required, you will support the Global Patient Safety and Patient Science transformation roadmap to contribute to the 2030 Bold Ambition

The responsibilities of this role are outlined below
- Lead business and financial planning for GPS and PS in partnership with Finance (e.g. LTP, MTP etc); if required, lead business and financial planning for CMO in conjunction with the Head of Business Planning and Operations LDO & CMO.
- Support the Chief Safety Officer in preparation for critical internal and external meetings and presentations in partnership with the Communication teams
- Own the development of the annual scorecard ensuring input from all LT members
- Work with the GPS and PS leadership teams to set, lead all aspects of, and communicate strategic priorities and goals (activities and budget), work in close collaboration with portfolio, project and strategy teams, and leverage reporting and analytics tools to communicate results
- Lead and facilitate all GPS and PS LT meetings, ensuring smooth running of all agenda items, decisions, activities etc.
- Supervise all actions and strategic initiatives to completion, reporting back to the LT on progress as needed
- In collaboration with the communication lead, develop an effective communication plan to drive the understanding of GPS and PS strategy within the function and externally with key partners
- Partner with HR and communications to ensure GPS and PS teams are operating efficiently, support people development ensuring GPS and PS are a great place to work
- Work collaboratively with Head of BPO for the Chief Medical Office and Late Development Oncology and Director BPO, Quality to deliver strategic priorities

**Required Skills/Abilities**:

- 8 years of proven experience
