**_Role Purpose_**

The Payroll Officer role is a vital role within our organisation as it ensures that all of our valued employees are paid accurately and on time.

We are looking for an experienced Payroll Officer who will ensure that our monthly payroll is processed, submitted, and paid accurately and on time. You will also provide the business with reports relating to the payroll and associated costs. Please note that this is a stand-alone position.

**_Role responsibilities include but are not limited to: _**
- Control and processing monthly payroll, pension and benefits, 3rd party deductions and activities for permanent employees.
- Processing all new starters and leavers including adding and removing people from company benefits.
- Ensure that the payroll platform is maintained and kept up to date with salary changes, probationary periods complete, promotions, shift changes, flexible working requests and other changes.
- Inputting, calculation, and recording of SSP & SMP.
- Processing of HRMC submissions including P45s, P60s and P11Ds
- Administration of Auto-Enrolment Pension Scheme.
- Investigate payroll problems and develop recommendations.
- Interrogate the time and attendance system and produce various reports.
- Monitor and report sickness payments.
- Calculate wages and applicable deductions based on internal time and attendance system records.
- Liaise with heads of departments - particularly finance department - prior to payroll submission to ensure all information is correctly captured at source.
- Maintain detailed information with regard to holidays, sickness, pay rates
- Upload all payroll information accurately and on-time to the payroll system (SAGE 50)
- Ensure the effective and smooth running of the monthly managed payroll for the whole business

**_Experience and Skills_**
- Must have experience within payroll and ideally CIPP qualified.
- Thorough understanding of what is required to run a monthly payroll.
- Excellent knowledge of current employment legislation
- Must have experience with SAGE50 platform
- Experience of managing the payroll requirements associated with shift work (4 on 4 off, 5 on 3 off, days and nights, etc.)
- Flexible approach to working hours (particularly around cut off time)
- Pragmatic approach and ability to problem solve.
- Ability to work with tight deadlines.
- Ability to challenge the status quo and push for a better function.
- Experience of providing different types of reports for HR and the board
- Excellent understanding of Payroll legislation and compliance requirements.
- Strong mathematics skills
- Great attention to details
- Microsoft Excel proficient user

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: £36,000.00-£38,000.00 per year
