37.5 - flexible to include evening and weekends this will include 1 clinical shift per week, at least 1 night visit per month or as required, ad hoc cover as required on the floor.

**JOB SUMMARY**
- The Matron is responsible for delivering high quality evidence-based practice.
- The Matron is responsible for providing, receiving, and acting upon highly complex, highly sensitive and contentious information from a variety of sources including key stakeholders, both internal and external.
- The Matron is clinically accountable for the clinical care of the people we support at Towerview Care.
- The Matron will ensure that the quality of the people we support experience is improved by providing front line employees with the necessary guidance, mentoring and hands on support to prevent or to remedy shortcomings or failings in practice
- The Matron is responsible for developing and implementing NICE quality standards across the service by strengthening professional clinical leadership at team and organisational level.
- The Matron will work with the Registered Manager, Qualified Nurses and Carers to monitor, challenge and improve the quality of care across the service. They will be responsible for driving forward and sustaining meaningful changes to clinical care pathways enabling Towerview Care to become a Centre of Excellence with an important role in leading and co-ordinating the service improvement objectives of the services, taking into account the strategic aims and objectives of the Company.
- The Matron will be accountable for ensuring that effective communication pathways exist for the people we support, their relatives and friends and all members of the multi-disciplinary team, both internal and external to ensure the best possible experience is provided while accessing the service of Towerview Care.
- The Matron will advise the team on professional and practice issues in consultation with the Registered Manager and Operations Manager
- To participate in Towerview Care on call service.
- To deputise in the absence of the Registered Manager.
- To undertake clinical focussed investigations as requested
- To attend TVC Matron forum and share best practice and innovations
- To lead and monitor local and organisational lessons learnt.
- To ensure robust clinical supervision processes are in place for registered and non-registered clinical facing staff.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Driving forward clinical standards, innovation, quality the Matron will**:

- Champion the excellence agenda, demonstrating personal commitment to continuous improvement in clinical standards and embracing the quality agenda whilst embedding safety.
- Help drive up nursing standards by benchmarking the fundamental and essential aspects of care, enabling teams to ensure that clinical governance encompasses a process of continuous quality improvement
- Encourage and foster a culture that involves and empowers nurses, stimulates innovation and enables participation at all levels in shaping service delivery for the future
- Provide devolved authority, as required, to ensure objectives are met and achieve the right balance between quality, time, cost and risk whilst encouraging team based empowerment models of problem solving.
- Provide professional judgement and expert advice in relation to clinical assessments and care planning especially for people with complex needs both in the service and new referrals
- Strengthen links between teams in planning and delivering quality, safe and effective care whilst building capacity and transparency of our services.
- To ensure that electronic care records are accurate, person centred and risk assessments are in line with MCA and Best Interest Decision making and deliver training on good record keeping where required.
- Challenge working practices and encourage a culture of continuous improvement and ensure access and uptake of clinical supervision is maintained for nurses and direct facing care staff
- Demonstrate a personal commitment to continuous improvement in clinical standards and embracing the ‘caring counts’ clinical strategy whilst embedding the 6 C’s care; Compassion, Competence, Communication, Commitment and Courage.
- Challenge care that is not in line with evidence-based practice.
- To ensure that all clinical audits are competed as part of the Quality Audit Framework and action plans completed.
