We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed midwife with a minimum of one year post registration experience to join our community team.

The role in community is currently a traditional model of care for the antenatal and postnatal period and includes providing care and support for the home birth service.

The post holder must have a passion for providing continuity of care for women and their families and be willing to work as part of a continuity of care model, as this is developed within ESNEFT.

The post holder will be expected to provide woman centred, holistic midwifery care in a community setting. The community midwife has a fundamental role in providing evidence based care and empowering women to make informed choices regarding their care plans.

The post holder will act as a lead professional for low risk women in an identified caseload, and collaborate with obstetric colleagues and the wider MDT in the care of women with complex health and social needs.

Community midwives have a fundamental role in information sharing to empower women to be involved in decisions regarding their care. The post holder will offer choice to all women on lead professional and place of birth. They will work in partnership with health care professionals, charities, local groups and local and national guidelines to provide women centred and individualised care.

The post holder will have the skills, knowledge and ability to offer care for women who choose home birth and will be encouraged to provide intrapartum care to women giving birth in midwife led wards/ birthing units and the consultant unit.

The post holder will act as an advocate for women and their families receiving maternity care and as a role model for junior staff members and students.
