**Purpose**

Reporting to the Head of Safeguarding & People, the Safeguarding Coordinator will be responsible for implementing effective safeguarding processes and procedures across the Trust. The Safeguarding Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all individuals attending Trust programmes, working closely with internal and external partner organisations. The Safeguarding Coordinator will be required to follow current practices to safeguard children and vulnerable adults from harm, abuse, or neglect who attend our community programmes.

**Key tasks & responsibilities**
- Support and assist the Head of Safeguarding & People on safeguarding compliance, including training, risk management and governance, reporting all concerns for regular review.
- Monitor and report on the effectiveness of safeguarding policies and procedures in line with legal and regulatory requirements, making recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Support the Safer Recruitment processes, including Disclosure and Barring Services (DBS) checks.
- Support regular in-house safeguarding training for all staff and volunteers.
- Support staff with effective safeguarding risk assessments, acting as a counter signatory for compliance documentation.
- Support the effective implementation of safeguarding policies and procedures, providing guidance and training where appropriate.
- Investigate and report any incidents or allegations of harm, abuse, or neglect, ensuring appropriate action is taken in line with safeguarding procedures and legal obligations.
- Maintain effective relationships with external safeguarding partners, such as local authorities and relevant charities, ensuring that best practice and learning is shared.
- Keep accurate records of incidents, concerns, allegations, and evidence of poor practice, reporting relevant cases to the appropriate authorities and the Board of Trustees.
- Maintain and manage safeguarding records in line with legal requirements and confidentiality policies adhering to all GDPR regulations.
- Maintain regular open communication to all staff and volunteers regarding any Safeguarding concerns.
- Encourage and support all staff and volunteers to promote safer working practices and support with recognising any safeguarding concerns.
- Empower staff, volunteers, and participants to have a voice in discussing safeguarding and implementing the importance of this within the Trust.

**Skills & Experience**

Proven experience and success in a safeguarding role, with working knowledge of safeguarding children and adults at risk.

Knowledge of safeguarding legislation, policy, and best practice.

Knowledge of compliance, audit functions and processes.

Experience safeguarding case management and report writing.

Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate sensitively and clearly with others.

Experience of training and supporting others in safeguarding procedures.

Ability to engage with children and vulnerable adults.

Experience of managing sensitive and confidential information.

Excellent IT skills, including spreadsheets and databases (e.g. Excel/MyConcern/Salesforce).

Experience in developing and maintaining strong relationships with key partner agencies and statutory services.

Strong organisational skills, ability to prioritise, multi-task and manage own workload.
