We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Team Leader to join our team. As a Team Leader, you will provide assistance and support to individuals with various needs, helping them in working towards living fulfilling and independent lives.

We offer in-house training, delivered by our **Senior Management Team** and outsourced training, provided by highly-qualified and experienced trainers.
**Main Purpose of the Role**:
- Plan and organise your shift, allocating task and duties your shift partner following a robust handover form your peers.
- Be an effective decision maker when faced with difficult and unexpected situations ensuring you follow policies and procedures.
- Contribute to a safe environment for the young people and staff, completing any tasks delegated my management that’s supports this.
- Support and develop your shift partner inline with company expectations, values and ethos.
- Participate in your own supervisions and attend team meetings.
- Support staff to understand the young person’s care planning/risks and behaviours and the effective strategies used to support and de-escalate.
- Be a strong leader within the home, working alongside the Homes Management team to ensure that the home is Ofsted compliant and support Ofsted inspections.
- Support staff within the home follow company policies and procedures & be confident to challenge any practice issues.
- Be flexible within your role to support the needs of the home.
- Attend required training and engage with development plans implemented.
- Ensure you maintain confidentiality and follow the code of conduct.
- Be a good role model for the Residential staff and child/children.
- Complete sleep in’s required based on staffing within the home and the rota.
**Day to Day Caring for the child/children**:
- Embed the company’s ethos of how we look after the young people within the home.
- Immediately report any unsafe practices.
- Promote the safeguarding and wellbeing of the young people within our care.
- Encouragement for the young people to attend education and review strategies of how we are supporting this.
- Ensure your practice is underpinned by positive re-enforcement and celebrate young people’s achievements.
- Support staff to follow young people’s risk assessments and relevant plans, recording all necessary information.
- Reflect on your practice and your teams practice to determine if effective.
- Be a voice for our children and ensure that their views, wishes and feelings are documented throughout our systems within the home and shared where required.
- Support that the young people have access to a wide range of activities within the local area and further, in line with their interests and hobbies. Ensure that staff are being proactive on your shift.
- Promote making strong and positive relationships with the young people (Regulation 11)
- Ensure the young people’s health needs are met. (Regulation 10)
- Ensure the young people’s Education needs are met. (Regulation 8)
**Person specification**
**Essential qualifications**
NVQ 3 - **Level 3** Diploma (QCF) qualified in Children and Young People’s workforce (or equivalent)
**Essential experience**
At least two years’ experience as a Residential Support Worker: other relevant experience will be considered.
**Essential skills & abilities**
- Good at working as part of a team but also effective at using own initiative when given lone tasks to complete.
- Approachable for staff when they are seeking support.
- A good role model to children and staff within the home.
- To be able to delegate effectively to the team and support their development alongside the homes management team
- To be professional within the home and whilst representing the company when working with outside agencies, families and any other.
- Good reporting and recording skills.
- To have good organisational skills and manage time affectively within the home, completing tasks within timescales.
**Essential Knowledge**
- Working knowledge of the Children’s Homes Regulations. Further knowledge will be supported through development plans.
- The role of outside agencies.
- How we best support the needs of our young people and the interventions we use to do so.
**Other essential requirements**
- A willingness to be flexible to support the home for staffing shortages, staff taking leave etc. This area is reviewed during supervision, probation and annual appraisal.
**Salary**: £27,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
