SUMMARY

The Head of EMEA is responsible for the development of State Street Global Advisor’s (SSGA) strategic direction across Europe and the Middle East (EMEA) and the actualization of a regional plan aligned with SSGA’s global strategy and ambitions. An important aspect of the role is ensuring the continued competitiveness and growth of SSGA’s presence in EMEA through a combination of executive leadership, effective identification and balancing of competing priorities, and strong execution. The Head of EMEA will play a critically important role in maintaining and continuing cohesion across EMEA, with responsibility for SSGA’s UK and EMEA wide operations, by coordinating with global functional leaders via a local, matrixed leadership team. He/she will also have responsibility for regulatory oversight and ensuring that SSGA’s regional strategy takes into account the regulatory roadmap and landscape. Leading an EMEA Executive Committee with representatives from all global and corporate functions, the role will be accountable for the executive decision-making and management of the business and operations of SSGA in EMEA. Reporting to SSGA’s President and CEO, the Head of EMEA will work in close partnership with all key business leaders to ensure that SSGA’s regional strategy achieves the firm’s desired market leading position and growth for the region.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Have responsibility for defining and ensuring the execution of a regional business strategy aligned to the global strategy of SSGA, with clearly identified objectives and key results.- Lead an EMEA SSGA Executive committee with representatives from all global and corporate functions focused on EMEA specific matters, with the ability to facilitate decision making and ensuring the effectiveness of operations specific to SSGA in EMEA.- Collaborate with colleagues across global functions to align overall business goals and regional specific objectives; provide leadership for and facilitate cross-functional teamwork and input to drive both regional and global effectiveness, and ensure robust communications to drive regional agenda.- Identify and balance competing priorities within the region and between global and regional demands to ensure the growth aspirations and market leading position in EMEA is achieved.- Manage key external stakeholder relationships and engagements in the region, including regulators, entity boards and industry associations.- Oversee regulatory requirements of the region as the most senior leader accountable to the regional regulators, ensuring the identification of emerging trends and changes in the regulatory landscape and that appropriate research, action and decision making is informed and compliant with the regional requirements; have regulatory responsibility as a designated SMF 7 under the UK FCA Senior Manager Regime.- Lead C-Suite engagement, providing a senior management touchpoint for SSGA’s top clients in the region; be a leading regional presence via media and industry engagement and representation.- Develop and manage a regionally resilient operating model consistent with EMEA client priorities, SSGA regional risk and regulatory frameworks, and Board and SSGA expectations.- Lead, motivate and oversee the SSGA EMEA leadership team and develop and nurture the approximate 500 professionals in the region.- Have direct management responsibility for SSGA’s Poland operations.- Take a senior role in representing SSGA in EMEA State Street’s leadership and governance forums.- Be an active member of SSGA’s senior-most Operating Group and Executive Management Group.

QUALIFICATIONS- Demonstrated strategic leadership and business building skills, ownership mentality, and ability to navigate complexity and drive execution.- Deep understanding of the complexities of the EMEA financial landscape and ability to operate and execute with both a regional and global lens; extensive asset management experience and with a focus on EMEA in the context of a global organization.- Excellent interpersonal skills of collaboration, problem-solving, organizational leadership and teamwork within a complex matrix operating environment; track record of delivering results while achieving organizational buy-in.- Keen understanding and experience with key elements of SSGA’s business, investment capabilities and client base; brings background and experience in covering clients.- Proven experience in attracting, building, developing and motivating a high performing team of asset management professionals across multiple geographies.- Strong financial acumen, insightful judgment, entrepreneurial and innovative nature, and appropriate risk appetite to develop and deliver a successful regional strategy.- Demonstrated cross-cultural effectiveness with ability to operate across EMEA and an appreciation of the commonalities and differences across markets, clients and regulators.- Strong communications skills, with ability t
