We are particularly looking for an academic Lecturer with experience in Business modules on a Foundation year or Level 3/4 in an online learning capacity (e.g. distance or online education).

**The Opportunity**:
Following a period of continued growth at Arden University, the Institute of Foundation Studies, wishes to appoint a full-time Distance Learning Lecturer to expand the Distance Learning Foundation Year academic team. This is an exciting time to join the Institute of Foundation Studies - we are continually improving the student experience, following a launch of a new programme in October 2023.

You will be accountable for delivering excellent teaching and learning, designing excellent teaching material and delivering this to our students using online resources. You will do this whilst managing your own teaching activity and reflecting on your practice and development of skills, with support/guidance as needed. Distance Learning Lecturers in the Institute of Foundation Studies work closely with the Programme Leader as well as the Director, Principal Lecturers, Senior Lecturers, Assistant Lecturers and Associate Lecturers to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of our foundation year programmes in accordance with university strategy, policies, and procedures.

**About You**:
As a Distance Learning Lecturer within the Institute of Foundation Studies, you will be innovative in your approach and look to contribute to the development and delivery of our programme. Your focus will be to design engaging teaching materials, ensuring content and methods of delivery meet defined learning objectives. As a student-focused educator, you will use a range of methods to engage your foundation year students, bringing their learning to life using active teaching and learning techniques. You will have an excellent understanding of the support needs of foundation year students, offering effective pastoral and out-of-class academic guidance.

We would like to hear from applicants who have;
- Experience of delivering engaging and interactive online sessions
- To be highly competent in the use of Teams/Zoom or equivalent
- An understanding of student support in an online/distance learning context
- Experienced in developing innovative online teaching and learning approaches and module content

You will be largely based online and will need to be prepared to work flexibly as teaching may be scheduled for evening.

You will be a positive role model to your peers and students: the Lecturer role represents the University and its values, promoting the Institute and Foundation Year at external and internal events. This role will report to a Senior Lecturer from the Institute of Foundation Studies.

**Working pattern**:
Due to our growing team and student numbers in Distance Learning Foundation Year, we would like to recruit a Lecturer who can work some evenings 2-3 times per week as we do offer a live synchronous teach in the evenings (exact working pattern will be discussed in the interview).

Our Foundation Year on Distance Learning has 4 intakes and blocks of study (Jan, April, July, October). Each block of teaching is for 10 weeks. You will be allocated modules which you will oversee and manage each cycle and teach to the modules schedule which is produced by the Programme Leader. After each block you will be allocated marking and supporting with the preparation for the following block.
