Are you passionate about shaping the future of education? As a Principal Lecturer, you'll be a subject expert and a cornerstone of academic leadership within your School. Supporting the Head of School, you will drive excellence in undergraduate student outcomes and satisfaction, continually enhance and develop innovative undergraduate programmes, and serve as a positive role model for colleagues and students.

You will oversee Programme Leaders, Senior Lecturers, and other academic team members, playing a pivotal role in recruiting top-tier academic staff. While primarily focused on leadership, you may also engage in teaching and related duties within your expertise, enriching the academic experience. 

You will demonstrate a broad perspective beyond programme leadership, and the ability to influence and lead with flexibility and ingenuity.

About You:   

If you have a PhD in a management discipline and experience in academic leadership roles such as Head of School, Principal Lecturer, or Senior Lecturer then we want to hear from you You will also have a recognised HE teaching qualification (e.g., PG Cert HE, SFHEA, QTLS/QTS Secondary) and external recognition from stakeholders or agencies.

Key experience/skills we are looking for:

  • Leadership: Proven success in leading undergraduate/postgraduate programmes and managing budgets/resources
  • Teaching: Extensive experience in teaching relevant academic programmes and a deep understanding of diverse student needs
  • Skills: Excellent digital capabilities, communication skills, and the ability to build positive stakeholder relationships
  • Management: Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage competing priorities, and recruit/support staff effectively
  • Vision: Clear vision of academic excellence and a track record of research/scholarly/professional achievements
  • Sector Knowledge: Understanding of current HE sector challenges and strategies to address them
