The Opportunity:

The Institute of Foundation Studies based in the Faculty of Business at Arden University is looking for a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to design and create a bespoke Foundation Year (Level 3) module in careers and personal and academic development for our Foundation Year programme.
The module will provide our Business, Computing and Social Science Foundation Year students with an exciting opportunity to identify and explore the factors that can contribute to their future success on a professional, academic, and personal basis.
Students will undertake a range of activities designed to increase their awareness of their own strengths and areas of development in each of these domains.
Through this module, students will:
- Develop actionplanning skills and set, challenging short, medium, and longterm aspirational goals
- Explore graduate career options, identifying key employability skills that they can develop through internships, informational interviewing, voluntary work, and engagement with their degree programme
- Increase their awareness of, and proficiency in, a range of key professional skills, for example collaborating with others, cultural awareness/inclusivity, digital skills, workplace ethics, leadership, and how to plan for high performance at work.
The overall aim of the module is to increase our students' self-confidence, prepare them for their degree programme, and maximise their attractiveness to employers, post-graduation.
The key period of development will be from September to November 2023 with the SME required to work collaboratively with the Foundation Year programme team, Digital Learning Team, and Careers and Library Services throughout this time.
Your Experience:
You will be experienced in level 3/Foundation Year in the UK HE-Sector. You must be able to demonstrate your ability to develop high quality student-centred materials.
You will be experienced in providing impactful guidance to students at the beginning of their academic journey, and from diverse backgrounds, supporting them to explore the graduate workplace, and ensure that they have high aspirations and a clear plan of how they will achieve their goals.
