Integrated Autism Service

Our IAS Team is part of an exciting service development across Wales and is funded by Welsh Government.
In addition to this, our team provide support to parents and carers of children and young people with Autism, working closely with our Neurodevelopment Service to ensure a smooth transition to adult services.
Previous experience of working with service users with Autism is highly desirable. We are able to offer a range of training opportunities in methodologies such as ADOS, ADI-R and DISCO.
NHS secondments will be considered.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post.
The post holder will work as part of the IAS providing diagnostic assessment and support of adults across Swansea Bay. The service will develop and provide support for individuals, families and Carers alongside joint working, consultation, training and advisory support to professionals. The service will also work in conjunction with existing children’s autism spectrum diagnosis services.
This role will include adult assessments and also provide support and interventions adults on the Autism Spectrum, their family and Carers. This role is open to individuals with a range of professional backgrounds that can offer expertise in the field of autism and preferably be trained in Autism assessment and diagnosis.
The post holder will support and develop designated members of staff, and provide advice and awareness raising across agencies. This will include helping to facilitate group activities, contributing to planning and implementation of interventions.
As specialist practitioner, the post holder will provide specialist advice and guidance to the IAS team and other multi agency professionals and families/Carers as appropriate. The post holder will:
Contribute to the development, co-ordination and evaluation of specialist intervention provided within IAS
Support and undertake research projects ensuring interventions are evidence based and comply with NICE guidelines and professional standards

The post holder will contribute to the development of the service, supporting the Organisation to implement a broad range of activities and/or programmes. These may be on-going and require formulation and amendment of strategies
Contribute to the provision of specialist interventions, monitoring and evaluating interventions and making adjustments to these accordingly, with supervision
Provide specialist advice and consultation to other professionals forging strong relationships across the IAS multidisciplinary team and other teams
The post holder will be an autonomous practitioner and manage own caseload providing support and interventions to individuals with autism spectrum conditions
Communicate with clients, their relatives and multi agency professionals regarding complex condition-related, sensitive and/or distressing information. Barriers to acceptance and understanding may need to overcome and this will require the use of highly developed interpersonal skills and empathy
Formulate plans for the intervention or management adults on the autism spectrum needs, based on clients’ needs using best available evidence
Attendance at case conferences, meetings and reviews as required
Evaluate client response to interventions and make adjustments as necessary
Make referrals to other appropriate agencies as required
Work as part of a multidisciplinary team making referrals to other appropriate services as necessary
Undertake risk assessment and management for individuals as part of their assessments
The post holder will work collaboratively with clinical staff across service tiers to develop and deliver high quality, safe, client centered services offering advice and awareness raising to external agencies
