Key responsibilities of a Clerk of Works:

- Be responsible for providing specialist advice on the design and delivery of highway works. The role involves assessing technical matters and negotiating with contractors
- Inspecting workmanship and witnessing testing for conformity with client specifications.
- Monitoring and reporting project progression to Client Project Managers, including logging any unexpected delays.
- Recording activities and observations on site via electronic diaries.
- Assessing the quality and quantity of work completed by the Contractor to provide sign-off.
- Snagging defects and working with Contractor to close out remedial actions.
- Overseeing Health and Safety aspects on site.
- Checking compliance with all laws and regulations.
