EEAST has embarked on an ambitious clinical strategy to embed advancing practice across its model of service delivery.

This senior clinical leadership role will be an integral part of the senior clinical leadership team. This is a consultant practitioner level role which will lead our Clinical Practice development especially the Advanced Practice project. Our Advanced Practice model of both critical and urgent care practitioners started less then a year ago and in this time we have recruited 8a ACP roles, one of the first Ambulance Services in the country to do this, as well as starting to develop our own staff to be the future SP/AP in Urgent or Critical Care.

You will need to have extensive senior clinical leadership experience, preferable in an NHS Ambulance Service, as well as have a relevant master’s degree. A relevant leadership qualification will also be an advantage. Experience of leading advanced practice as well as developing clinical practice will be essential to succeed in the role. You will join a dynamic clinical team who want to ensure we deliver the highest quality of clinical care to our patients.

This is a really exciting time to join EEAST and while this post is initially for a fixed term 12 months the plan is that it becomes permanent so as we can continue our journey of developing a clinical career structure and developing our people to deliver outstanding clinical care.

Reporting directly to the Deputy Clinical Director the Consultant Practitioner is responsible for ensuring effective senior clinical leadership and clinical excellence within the organisations delivery of urgent and emergency care. Working through leading Clinical Practice the role will ensure this agenda is embedded within each locality and across the organisation.

The Consultant Practitioner will have a specific regional wide area of responsibility (Advanced and Clinical Practice) and will lead a team to ensure the Trust is able to deliver its objectives in a timely fashion.

The Consultant Practitioner is responsible for the continued improvement of all Clinical Indicators across the region. Working in collaboration with the Trust management teams, the role will ensure clinically effective delivery of care to all patients presenting to the organisation. By developing strategies, delivery plans and procedural changes, the Consultant Practitioner will ensure EEAST is regarded as an exemplar organisation for clinical delivery.

The Consultant Practitioner will act as an advocate for the profession and its ability to provide high quality clinical care for all patients groups.

The Consultant Practitioner has four key areas of focus; expert practice, professional clinical leadership, education and development and research and evaluation

EEAST employs over 5,000 staff with a further 1,000+ volunteers who between them cover 7,500 square miles and care for a population of more than 6 million.

Our three control rooms in Bedfordshire, Norfolk and Essex handle more than 1 million 999 calls every year, over 2,500 calls a day.

We manage a fleet of over 1,000 vehicles including double staffed ambulances, rapid response cars, operational commander response vehicles, patient transport and support service vehicles.

The East of England works alongside 17 Acute Trusts with Accident & Emergency services and a Major Trauma Centre in Cambridge. Access is available to neighbouring MTCs such as those in London.
