Our Central Government client is looking to recruit an Interim Head of HR for 6 months, who has previously worked for a Public Sector organization.

As a senior business partner, the Head of HR Services will report to the HR Director in and work across multi stakeholder groups to support the delivery of HR services.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- To work with the HR Director, HR team and operational leadership teams to further develop and implement the overarching People strategy
- Provide visible HR leadership and guidance across the organisation, championing leadership behaviours, diversity and inclusion, positively influencing the culture of the organisation.
- Maintain and further develop positive relationships with colleagues, developing networking opportunities, policy and practices as appropriate.
- Act as a key source of general operational expertise in HR, providing guidance and management across the full spectrum of HR.
- Manage the day to day activities of the HR Team, aligning resources to focus on the delivery of the team’s objectives in line with the strategic direction, maintaining and developing a high standard of professionalism, morale, efficiency, effectiveness and innovation across the HR group.
- Support the HR Director and wider team to thread together strategic people workstreams with BAU, change and transformation programmes.
- Drive the activity in monitoring and managing performance to support the development and role modelling of positive manager behaviours and an inclusive working environment.
- Support the management of the HR budget and overseeing contract management with suppliers particularly the training and recruitment budget.

Key requirements
- Senior HR professional, minimum MCIPD or equivalent with broad up-to-date knowledge and understanding of HR principles and practices across the employee life cycle including people development and pay
- Significant experience of working directly with and effectively influencing senior level roles. Demonstrable political awareness, diplomacy and discretion, able to work closely with stakeholders reconciling different views in sensitive areas during periods of BAU and change.
- Experience of leading and managing an HR team across the full employee lifecycle
- Experience of leading and supporting both senior leaders and teams through periods of change and transformation.
- Actively promotes and role models positive management behaviours, setting effective objectives, encouraging and supporting individual and team development and promoting diversity and inclusion.
