**What you'll be doing?**

**Responsibilities**
- Provide technical support/expertise on complex/large loans, portfolio, self-employed - demonstrating a complete understanding of PRA/FCA rules
- Identifying and supporting training needs focusing on new product/policy introductions and initiatives
- Key liaison between credit & operations
- Day-to-day management of the Underwriting, Case Manager Team, and Broker Support Team, ensuring that all operational and technical functions are operating smoothly.
- Act as a point of escalation to sign off referrals and work high-level mandated cases.
- Maintain a market awareness of key movements in the mortgage market and ensure the team remains aware.
- Ensure that internal quality controls are sufficient to meet the business need, and are carried out to the required standard at the required frequency and liaise with the QA Team to ensure that regular feedback is acted upon.
- Identify and fulfil training needs on an individual and team basis. Ensure that the team is delivering the first-class service that Chetwood is known for.
- Review all registered complaints on a monthly/quarterly basis. Identify any common trends and root cause analysis to ensure changes/adaptations are made swiftly to avoid repeat occurrences.
- Ensuring the team remains motivated and staff retention remains focused.
- Deputise where required for a line manager, and support other areas of the business where workloads allow.
- Develop effective relationships with managers and staff in all business areas, to understand their business issues and priorities.
- Liaise with line manager on recruitment, ensuring headcount is maintained at sufficient levels to maintain excellent customer service using the most cost-effective recruitment methods.
- Manage members of the team through regular review providing support and guidance where required.

**Skills and experience**
- Working in a similar fast-paced environment in a management role
- Exercising a lending mandate of £1m with a mortgage lender, with focus on complex BTL/Portfolio cases/Top Slicing
- Representative as the SME for Mortgage Operations with key stakeholders across the business
- An excellent understanding of mortgages /underwriting
- IT literate, including G Suite and Microsoft Excel
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Up-to-date knowledge of FCA /PRA and all relevant regulatory requirements
- Excellent organisational skills
- Strong attention to detail and experience working directly with customers account data as well as any sensitive data.
- Presentation skills
- Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively
- Flexible approach and attitude
