GENERAL SUMMARY

Digital Catapult is developing a world-leading Digital Twin centre in Belfast, Northern Ireland, with the goal of accelerating the adoption of digital twin technologies in real-world UK industry. The centre will begin its journey with an exciting range of use cases provided by a diverse set of leading industrial partners. Through this partnership, we will be developing expertise and a technical platform to help achieve the centre’s mission.

The Head of Digital Twin Technology will be responsible for leading all technical aspects of research and development in the centre. They will manage a team of technologists, and work directly with similar teams in industry. They will also work closely with the centre’s business development team to bring in new use cases and work with the centre’s innovation practice team in creating an ecosystem of partnerships (including technology providers and industrial entities, of all sizes). Relationships with technology partners will include developing technical means of integrating their products into a platform of digital twin offerings the centre will maintain. The Head of Digital Twin Technology will be directly involved in service delivery and dissemination activities and, as such, strong communication and presentation skills are essential.

**What You'll Do**
- Leading the development of a digital twin platform, drawing on and guiding access to third-party digital twinning tools
- Building and leading a team of approximately 10 technologists
- Supporting and delivering the technical aspects of consultative services to clients developing proof-of-value and proof-of-concept projects for digital twins in industrial use cases
- Working across a broad technology stack, that includes data integration, federation, security, simulation, AI, visualisation and immersive
- Monitoring the progress of the centre’s development against technical milestones over the 5 year funded period, and beyond
- Liaising with the centre’s business development, innovation practice, industrial partners, and other stakeholders
- Briefing Digital Catapult management and advisory boards on the centre’s technical progress

**Requirements**:

- Relevant past experience in digital twins (or a comprehensive set of relevant technologies) is required
- A degree in engineering, computer science, or associated field is preferred, though equivalent experience may suffice
- Proven and successful experience of building, leading and developing Engineering/Research/Development teams
- Great teamwork and collaboration skills
- Strong communication, presentation and consultancy skills
- Adaptability - able to deal with fast pace, rapid change and able to work within an exciting and dynamic environment, which can at times feel ambiguous
- Good organisation and planning skills
- A creative mindset and eye
- Commercial awareness
