Purpose of the role
Led by Digital Catapult and funded by Belfast Region City Deal and Innovate UK, the UK Digital Twin Centre will actively enable industry and innovators to safely embrace, explore and realise the dynamic power of digital twins. Operating from the heart of Northern Ireland, the Centre will accelerate the adoption of digital twins to drive global competitive advantage for UK businesses. By creating the conditions for digital twins to be better understood, more easily developed and more meaningfully applied, the Centre will give businesses real-time capabilities to make smarter decisions and achieve better outcomes, enabling the potential of digital twins to be realised, not theorised. Through partnerships with industry pioneers, the Centre will demonstrate how digital twins can responsibly revolutionise critical industries in maritime, aerospace and defence, and advance the products, services, and systems of the future.
WHAT YOU’LL DO (Duties)
- Lead Digital Twin's UX and Immersive technical strategy and roadmap to ensure it resonates with the centre’s vision and propels the industry forward.
- Work in tandem with the core team to capture and refine the technical specifications that are pivotal for the fruition of Digital Catapult's strategic goals.
- Developing and delivering a range of Immersive capabilities that allow users to interact with digital twins and visualise their data. Across a wide spectrum, from basic to advanced visualisation, such as business intelligence dashboards to XR/AR/VR.
- Spearheaded the inception, planning, and execution of collaborative R&D funding proposals, steering these endeavours from their nascent stage to fruition.
- Play a proactive role in formulating and executing proposals for commercial clients within the UK, aiming to surpass stakeholder expectations.
- Cultivate an environment where open communication and collective technical wisdom thrive, ensuring program endeavours are in sync with the overarching technical trajectory.
- Function as a sage and coach in open innovation exercises, imparting technical counsel and backing to burgeoning start-ups and established corporate entities. Working closely with industrial partners, academic institutions, hubs, regulator and standards organisations
- Build and nurture robust networks across the UK's scholarly, entrepreneurial, and industrial landscapes to fuel the centre’s collaborative and technical ventures.
- Deliver clear and insightful reports the progress and results of UX initiatives, fostering transparency and enlightenment among the team and the broader community of stakeholders, including whitepapers and guidance documents to help with real world adoption.
- Provide technical guidance on Digital Twin's UX and Immersive Capabilities.
- Forge strong connections with stakeholders, ensuring their requirements and aspirations are seamlessly woven into the fabric of digital twin constructs.

**Requirements**:
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR (Experience)
Have a grasp of, or keen interest in, Digital Twin UX and Immersive technologies and cyber-physical integrations.
Hold a degree level qualification in STEM or field with significant UX design, content publishing, data visualisation, and XR development. Equivalent professional experience can be considered.
Be an expert in crafting intuitive and engaging user interfaces for digital twins, the Digital Twin Technologist will drive user-centric design processes, prototype development, and usability testing to ensure optimal user interaction with virtual models.
Have experience with overseeing the content lifecycle for digital twin platforms, ensuring accurate, accessible, and timely information dissemination across user interfaces and digital channels.
Be Familiar with transforming complex data into clear and interactive visualisations, the role involves creating dynamic dashboards and graphics that elucidate digital twin analytics and performance metrics.
Currently or previously design, code, verify, test, document, amend and refactor complex programs/scripts and integration software services. Contributes to the selection of the software development methods, tools and techniques. Applies agreed standards and tools to achieve well-engineered outcomes.
