The Safeguarding Team are currently looking to employ a self
- motivated individual to provide an effective support function which enables the University Health Board (UHB) to discharge its duties in accordance with the Violence against Women, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence Act (2015) and the National Training Framework. The post holder will work as a key co-ordinator and communicator, representing the UHB in daily Domestic Abuse Conference calls and Multi-agency Risk Assessment Conferences, delivering Group 2 Ask and Act training and supporting projects and service development.

The post is based in Glangwili Hospital and we are able to support hybrid working. There may be a requirement to travel to other bases on occasions. The successful applicant will need to be proficient in Word, Excel, Office, Outlook and be used to working in an office environment.

Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. The Health Board has a dedicated Safeguarding Team to support the organisation in delivering on its statutory duties. The Safeguarding Team consists of a small group of friendly practitioners spread across Hywel Dda and forms part of the Health Board's Corporate Safeguarding Team.

The role of the Domestic Abuse Support Officer will work in a unique, interesting and challenging role as part of the corporate safeguarding team. The successful applicant would be expected to co-ordinate administrative processes in the appropriate sharing of information and completion of any actions related to the daily Domestic Abuse Conference calls and MARAC meetings and quality assure MARAC referrals from UHB employees. They will develop and maintain information systems, liaise with internal services and partner agencies; including the regional MARAC Unit, and contribute to audit and collection of performance data for local, regional and national reporting. They will also be required to deliver training on the National Training Framework, presenting the NHS Wales ‘Ask and Act’ training package. They must be able to provide advice and support in responding to domestic abuse concerns, and related safeguarding issues, demonstrating an understanding of the duty to report in line with the Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act 2014, and the Wales Safeguarding Procedures (2019). Because of the nature of the role, at times it can involve exposure to distressing information, interested parties should give consideration to this.

The role includes the delivery of training and participation in project work to support the development of the Safeguarding Team’s operational work and strategic planning processes.

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 11,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services for around 384,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. We do this in partnership with our three local authorities and public, private and third sector colleagues, including our volunteers, through:
**Four main hospitals**: Bronglais General in Aberystwyth, Glangwili General in Carmarthen, Prince Philip in Llanelli and Withybush General in Haverfordwest;
**Seven community hospitals**: Amman Valley and Llandovery in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron, Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire Hospital Health and Social Care Resource Centre in Pembrokeshire;
48 general practices (four of which are managed practices), 47 dental practices (including three orthodontic), 99 community pharmacies, 44 general ophthalmic practices (43 providing Eye Health Examination Wales and 34 low vision services) and 17 domiciliary only providers and 11 health centres;
Numerous locations providing mental health and learning disabilities services;
Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.
