This post is supported by Helpforce to coordinate volunteers in the Healthcare of the Elderly team with a view to improve career pathways and opportunities for volunteers. It's all about recognition for voluntary work and the experience gained before entering employment or training.

We are looking for a new team member who has great ideas and a can-do attitude. You'll need to be able to balance the day-to-day needs of the volunteers with thinking long term and working on the Volunteer to Career project to enhance volunteering opportunities at UHP.

Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as ‘Priority’ and 'At Risk' status including NHS at Risk staff throughout Devon who is able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.

The post holder will deliver and develop the Volunteer to Career to improve the experience of patients living with Dementia in the acute hospital setting, to support our Dementia-focussed volunteers and staff and reduce pressure on our services.

The post holder will lead a project that will increase the number of volunteers who have an interest in pursuing a career in health and care of the elderly following their volunteering experience. They will deliver a project focused on the development of ‘Volunteer to Career’ (VtC) initiatives/ pathways into Dementia healthcare that meet the identified workforce needs of the organisation and the community that it serves.
- Day-to-day support for volunteers including rota management, recruitment, training and inductions
- Build and maintain relationships with Healthcare of the Elderly ward teams and Lead Nurse
- Attend and contribute to the Dementia Steering group
- Build and maintain relationships with UHP recruitment and organisational development teams
- Collect KPIs to ensure the effectiveness and demonstrate the impact of Dementia support volunteers
- Work with UHP's Dementia Educator to ensure volunteers are well trained
- Produce reports with Helpforce and the Voluntary Services Manager to demonstrate impact and results of the programme
