Bristol, United Kingdom Sustainable Hive CIC Full time

**Repair workshop facilitator and educator**

**Salary**: £30,000 (Pro rata 3 days a week)

Hours: 24 hours per week

Location: Bristol with some home working

Are you fascinated by the world of electrical items and the resources used to make them? Are you passionate about reducing waste and challenging throw away culture? Are you an enthusiastic engager, keen to educate and support young minds in changing behaviour?

Would you like to be at the forefront of an exciting new development in the heart of Bristol’s shopping quarter? We are developing a workshop space within the new sustainability hub ‘Sparks’ opening in May which aims to bring to life the Sustainable Development Goals, modelling what a greener, fairer future can look like. With 108,000 square feet to play with, and an average weekly footfall in broadmead of 300,000 people, this is an exciting proposition

The space will be a reimagined department store with a difference Designed with ‘departments’ such as fashion, food, and electricals offering recycled and sustainable goods for sale, as well as interactive installations offering practical, affordable ways to tackle climate change, inequality, and poverty. Telling positive stories inspires action, in contrast to the often anxiety-inducing media narrative on these issues.

This unique combination of artists, sustainable retail, education and reuse is a world first that can be replicated in other high streets and we are so excited to have a workshop space in the heart of Sparks to deliver free workshops to schools and families.

What will you be doing?
- Delivering impactful education and engagement sessions that reduces and repairs electrical waste and inspires lifelong behaviour change
- Designing creative and immersive content to engage young minds and curious members of the public
- Engaging with primary schools and community groups to maximise the opportunities for young people to engage with the project
- Smashing project goals and targets by identifying key audiences, developing appropriate strategies to communicate key messages and change behaviours, organising school and community events and sharing stories through virtual platforms
- Contributing to developing the legacy for the project to ensure it continues long into the future

What are we looking for?
- An engaging and captivating educator with a high degree of attention to detail and a flare for performing. Extensive experience of leading education sessions to school age children and managing school visits.
- Ability to demonstrate creativity and innovation
- A fascination for electrical items, their worth and a real passion for repairing/swapping etc
- Repair skills and a willingness to learn on the job
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Strong organisational skills and multitasking skills
- Strong Microsoft Office/Google Suite software skills and highly computer literate
- Strong interest in sustainability and environmental awareness
- Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant field, or significant project experience

Our promise to you
