Care of the Elderly has an exciting opportunity for an experienced nurse wanting to develop their teaching and training skills. This is a full-time permanent role working as a Practice Education Facilitator, supporting education across the Care of the Elderly wards.

The Care of the Elderly wards provide care for elderly patients across the medical division including the Older Persons Admission Unit and the wards that specialise in Parkinsons Disease, Stroke, Dementia and rehabilitation in order to give them the best standards of care individualised to the patient needs.

As a nursing team we work closely with and are well supported by our MDT colleagues to ensure our patients receive the best possible care and treatment to ensure they can be discharged as quickly as possible.

As a Practice Education Facilitator in Care of the Elderly, you will be responsible for developing learning and education for a large, dedicated nursing workforce, acting as a mentor to assist in the training and development of junior staff. You will contribute as a positive role model to ensure that the delivery of nursing care is at the highest level possible to meet the needs of the patients.

In return the Care of the Elderly teams will provide a welcoming and inclusive team that will support and guide you.

The Practice educator will work alongside, and support identified staff. The position requires role modelling of excellent nursing practice and clinical teaching/coaching to support clinical decision making and professional development.

The PEF will provide in-depth knowledge and clinical skills coaching relating to Care of the Elderly Medicine required across in our inpatient units.

The practice educator will work to establish and deliver a clearly defined teaching and education programme for the nursing staff in Care of the Elderly medicine.
