An opportunity has arisen to be part of the supportive and forward thinking Outpatient Appointment Booking team. This fast paced, rewarding role, plays a pivotal part in our patient’s journey.

With a variety of tasks being undertaken in this post, many responsibilities have a shared goal, working alongside colleagues. Team work and cooperation are vital, along with a flexible approach.

You will show ambition and drive, have excellent organisational, communication and IT skills, be motivated, conscientious and have the ability to use own initiative.

You will ensure that standards of service are maintained, and be pro-active in the implementation of the “Patient Choice” development process.

You will ensure on-going compliance with the terms set out in The Elective Patient Access Policy adhering to Patient Choice and in line with speciality waiting times, Trust and national access targets (such as 18 weeks RTT, 2 week rules, breast symptomatic, etc).

You will demonstrate excellent organisational and communication skills, they will be responsible for providing an outpatient appointment booking service, with strict adherence to Trust protocols, being aware of the need for confidentiality and integrity. Appointment queries will be dealt with politely and efficiently by telephone and changes made to the computerised patient record system (QCPR), to ensure Data Quality is maintained.

You will be multi-skilled following training, have a working knowledge of clinic templates and acknowledge the national, local and specialist targets that have to be achieved.

**Duties will include, but not be limited to**:

- Maintain good communication skills when dealing with colleagues, patients, relatives, carers and other health care professions, utilising a variety of communication methods including verbal and electronic.
- Constructively managing barriers to effective communication.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times as required by legislation and Trust Policy.
- Demonstrate own duties to new starters and agency staff.
- Work with the Patient Access/Health Records Manager to develop procedures to support an efficient and effective outpatient appointment service.
- Provide flexible cover for colleagues as required to ensure the provision of an efficient Outpatient appointment booking service.
- Rotate within the Outpatient appointment booking service teams to ensure that a multi skilled work force is maintained.
- Ensure any changes to patient demographic details are updated immediately on QCPR.
- Maintain the integrity of data/information using agreed procedure.
- Maintain a high standard of patient care.
