Accounts Assistant

A developmental Accounts position supporting a highly reputable UK brand in an excellent working environment offering real Accounts career progression.
Key Responsibilities
- Be part of overheads cost centre review on a monthly basis, posting relevant accruals and prepayments, ensuring the cost centres are posted up to date for month end closing.
- Involvement with R&D capitalisation (internal + external) and amortisation.
- Manage fixed asset register posting additions and depreciation.
- Review overheads with Budget holders on an ongoing basis - discussing the actuals vs budget analysis, understanding spend and identifying cost saving opportunities where possible.
- Manage the cost centre and balance sheet structures including new nominals required and closing obsolete items.
- Review payroll and post monthly payroll values to correct nominals, monitor actual to forecast variance.
- Manage the rolling capex forecast, providing input for cash flow forecast.
- Involvement in forecasting and budgeting activities covering Opex/Capex.
- Reconcile relevant balance sheets.
- Actively participate in the new ERP project concerning assets and overheads.
- Assist external auditors with any information request that is required for audit.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Ideally 2 years relevant working experiences in general accounting or overheads/capex environment.
- Experience of business partnering would be an advantage and ability to explain financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Studying towards an accountancy qualification (AAT, ACCA or CIMA) or also could be qualified by relevant experience.
- Experience of working for a manufacturing company would be a distinct advantage.
- Must have Excel skills and be used to working with an ERP System
- Must have experience and feel comfortable working in a small accounting office where there is a requirement to multi - task.
- Results oriented, able to clearly communicate at all levels with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to influence peers.
- Ability to work on own initiative with mínimal supervision.
