We are looking for a senior accounts assistant to join a busy and diligent team providing the accounts function for four offices across Wiltshire and Hampshire and our remote workers.

The role will involve assisting and taking responsibility for a variety of accounts tasks, providing a significant contribution to the department.

Job purposes:

- To deputise for the accounts manager.
- To help implement new policies and procedures.
- Allocate tasks to team members.
- To work with the accounts manager to ensure that the Accounts function is working efficiently and can process transactions quickly, as the property transactions increase.
- To contribute to the day to day running of the accounts department.
- To ensure the timely and accurate recording of client and nominal transactions.
- To maintain compliance of the accounts function of the Firm.

General responsibilities and Tasks:

- Deputising for the accounts manager. For example
- Checking and processing transactions through the firms accounts software and bank accounts.
- Running payroll.
- Running month end.
- Submitting VAT and making digital tax returns.
- Assisting with client and thrid party accounts related complaints.
- Attend the operation management meeting as required.
- Dealing with all members of staff to ensure monies received is allocated to the correct ledgers.
- Reconciling conveyancing completion statements to ledgers.
- Bank account reconciliations.
- Processing payments and maintaining purchase ledger.
- Checking cheques and posting to ledgers.
- Dealing with queries from staff, clients and suppliers relating to ledgers, payments, bills etc.
- Daily management of the team.
- Liaising with staff about client balances in line with SRA rules.
- Banking.
- Other accounts or admin tasks as required.

Person specification - Skills, knowledge and experience required:

- Highly numerate.
- Experience in working in legal accounting.
- Good communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the firm, as well as clients and suppliers.
- Good organisational skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Strong sense of responsibility.
- Have a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.

Practical skills:

- Proven ability working with numbers, evidenced by educational qualifications and legal accounts experience.
- Ability to prioritise own workload and work to deadlines.
- Excellent general IT and case management software skills.
- Experience of using office equipment, e.g. Photocopiers, scanners, fax machine
- Experience working with legal accounts is a must.
- AAT qualified or equivalent.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: £25,000.00-£28,000.00 per year
