The Council is looking for a new Housing Officer to help deliver its housing management services. The Council manages a small housing stock of mixed tenures. This new role will provide management of the Council’s rented housing and shared ownership portfolio.

As part of the role, you will provide advice and guidance to the tenants and shared owners as well as providing an overall management of the accommodation, this includes tenancy management and enforcement.

You will work within a small team that deliver the tenancy support service and the temporary accommodation service and work alongside you in delivering the management services for the rented units and shared ownership.

You will need to show initiative and work independently as the lead officer for this area, but you will work closely with the teams within Housing, such as Housing Options and Housing Allocations, to ensure the best outcomes for customers.

The Person

We are seeking a person who has experience of working in a housing environment and has experience in delivering services directly to customers.

We are looking for someone who is able to negotiate effectively to get the best outcomes, sometimes in situations where parties disagree. Having the ability therefore to communicate effectively with customers in a variety of different situations and some of whom may be vulnerable or in distress, is important.
