**Hours of Work**:Not less than 9h per week

**Contract**:Fixed Term Funded to 31stMarch 2025

(With the Potential to be Extended beyond)

**Responsible to**:The Operations Manager

**Primary Purpose of the Role**

The post holder will develop programmes which support and empower young people to shape the services they receive alongside developing their confidence, skills and self-esteem. This will include peer education and mentoring programmes. The post holder will work closely with existing youth workers at the Centre to ensure that young people are able to influence decision making and strategies that relate directly to its operation and running.

The post holder will co-facilitate the development of youth ambassador programmes, and promote social action projects which aid the political, social and civic education of young people, connecting them with the wider community and creating strong community partnerships.

Working with young people who are aged 11-18yrs (up to 25 with SEND), including those who are underrepresented and hard to reach, the post will ensure that Youth Voice is at the forefront of the Centre’s youth offer and underpins everything that it does.

**Main Tasks**

**Work with Young People**
- To recruit young people aged 11-18yrs (25 with SEND) for Youth Voice platforms and projects ensuring equality of opportunity through targeted inclusion of underrepresented and minority groups.
- To build effective, meaningful, and empathetic relationships with children and young people, using regular contact and mutual understanding to establish an inclusive culture where all are welcome and supported to participate, and where respect, honesty, and trust enable young people to thrive.
- To identify and respond to the needs and agendas of individuals and groups by creating informed programmes of personal and social development, which balance the needs, rights, and responsibilities of young people with education and fun.
- To identify and develop mindfulness programmes of work in which young people can openly participate with a view to enhancing their mental health and wellbeing,
- To support and challenge children and young people’s attitudes and actions towards issues such as unemployment, drugs, poverty, racism, sexism, disability, health, sexuality, criminality, peer, parental and community pressure.
- To develop representation of young people’s views at the Centre, as well as at local, regional and national events.
- To support the continued development and facilitation of youth voice programmes.
- To provide children and young people with opportunities to have a say about activities and social action they would like to engage in which support the political, civic and social education of young people through existing and developing governance programmes at the Centre and connect them with the wider community.
- To facilitate group work sessions for young people to develop the skills, knowledge and confidence to participate effectively in decision making within the Centre’s Youth Offer and the wider local offer.
- To co-design, distribute, evaluate, and report upon user satisfaction surveys including parents and carer surveys.

**Partnership Work**
- To develop and maintain effective and consistent professional relationships with the Centre’s local delivery partners, ensuring the effective Participation Agenda is delivered.
- To lead the development of initiatives and partnerships that encourage young people to build strong links with their local community, act as advocates and bridge gaps in understanding between young people and the local community.
- To work closely with Centre support teams to ensure all young people are given the opportunity to inform programme development and service delivery.
- To develop working links with Merseyside Youth Association, Knowsley Youth Cabinet and National Youth Agency whenever possible.

**Monitoring and Evaluation**
- To accurately and regularly collect information and evidence to support with the monitoring and the evaluation of the service.
- To record initial assessments including learning, engagement, and participation goals.
- To utilise Personal Development tools, Session Plans and Evaluations in line with the Centre, National Youth Agency and Knowsley Council requirements.
- To utilise agreed outcome measurement tools to ensure distance travelled is measured and recorded.
- To employ reflective practice in the evaluation of interventions, supporting a culture of learn, adapt, improve and ensuring that targets are being met in line with funding requirements.
- To ensure that all resources/expenditure fall within the allocated budget and that Centre financial processes are upheld.
