We are expanding our team, looking for the right people to help create a sustainable Centre, providing services to The Bullring and beyond.


The Role


1 Youth Worker position is available (35 hours per week), we are looking for a minimum level 2 qualified youth worker.

Salary in line with JNC depending upon experience and qualifications.

Contracts will 12 months fixed term (permanent pending funding)

Location:

To support and deliver the Bronte's youth/play services. Developing self-esteem and confidence in children/young people, improve wellbeing, encourage healthy life choices and raise aspirations.


This is a full time roll but flexibility will be required to include direct contact with children and young people over four evenings per week during three hour sessions and to ensure delivery of specific day-time programs that reflect the school holidays.

The work may also include occasional weekends along with outreach support and engagement/activities with the local community.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the Youth Work team/Centre Manager and the Bronte, in its entirety and implement its relevant policies and procedures, (including all aspects of safeguarding/protection) and overall aims and objectives.
  • Lead on or help to plan relevant youth & play programs/activities that are enjoyable, rewarding and fun.
  • Develop and maintain robust community relationships with external stakeholders and the local/wider community.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with children and young people.
  • Develop opportunities that empower and encourage young people to fully participate and play an active role in the decisionmaking processes.
  • Advocate on behalf of children/young people and help them to become selfadvocates.
  • Carry out relevant administration/record keeping tasks during activities, as required.
  • Staying informed on legislation, local and national issues, and best practice in youth work.
  • Develop opportunities that empower and encourage young people to fully participate and play an active role in the decisionmaking processes.
  • Attend regular team meetings and training opportunities.
  • Mentoring, coaching and supporting individuals, encouraging children & young people to develop their selfawareness, independence and individuality.
  • Ensuring that all aspects of youth/play work are accurately documented, evaluated and appropriate data is acquired and entered into management systems.
  • Work positively within the Bronte Organisation and contribute towards it's stability and development.
  • Carry out all duties in accordance with the Bronte policies on Health and Safety, Child Protection, Data Collection and relevant national/local legislation.
  • Undertake any other duty commensurate with the post.
  • Conduct yourself in line with the Bronte Centre's & Liverpool Youth Service policies, procedures, regulations and standards.
  • Participate in occasional residentials, offsite visits, as and when required.
  • Undertake "outreach" play/youth work/support as and when required.

Person Specification

You are:
Positive and self-driven, able to work independently and as part of a team

Education, qualifications or experience:

  • Educated to minimum Level 2 Youth & Community.
  • A relevant national fulltime youth work qualification (JNC or Equivalent)
  • Experience of managing staff in a youth/play work setting
  • Experience of working with children/young people in an innercity environment to deliver high quality youth/play initiatives
  • Experience of organising events and/or project management
  • Experience of community development is desirable
