Oxford, United Kingdom University of Oxford Full time

The University is committed through its strategic plan to enhancing the public engagement, knowledge exchange and innovation culture of the University, in order to ensure that our research and education benefit wider publics in the Oxford region, across the UK and globally. In her admission speech, the new Vice-Chancellor highlighted the need to better coordinate, strengthen and deepen the relationships between the city, county, and University, and to use Oxford’s world-leading expertise to improve the local environment, to play a more significant part in positively shaping the evolution of the City and County, alongside a more vocal national role in shaping our country whilst not limiting our global impact in providing creative solutions to solve major global challenges.

This new and exciting senior role will report to, and work closely with the Vice-Chancellor, taking forward the University’s collective ambitions around local, national and global engagement.

**About the Role**

You will engage with a broad range of internal stakeholders and external partners, with responsibility for researching, identifying and presenting well-formed ideas to the VC about issues of significance we should be engaging in on a local, national and international basis.

You will be responsible for increasing the University’s profile, influence and impact in the region, whilst being a strong advocate who supports senior colleagues, and can coordinate the University’s collective response to significant issues, such as homelessness or refugee support.

In addition to working on medium to long term strategic plans, you will be responsible for providing guidance on the immediate issues that we should be responding to and coordinating action.

You will also work closely with Conference of Colleges to ensure a collegiate University approach wherever possible.

**About You**

To be successful, you will need to demonstrate extensive experience of working at a senior level in higher education, public sector or a closely related environment.

You will need proven experience of converting strategic thinking into effective planning within a large and complex organisation, along with the ability to present well thought out ideas in a cohesive and clear way.

First class stakeholder management and engagement, and the ability to influence with discretion is essential.

Evidence of inclusive behaviour and the ability to see the bigger picture without losing sight of all-important details is also critical to success.
