Peripatetic Recovery Coordinator
Our mission is to walk alongside people who are experiencing significant challenges with their mental health, building trust and sharing power with them, to bring about the changes they want to see in their lives and in their communities.
Julian Support are an organisation that values the unique qualities we all have, whatever our background and circumstances and the opportunity to bring our authentic selves to work. We are an anti-discriminatory organisation, and we work hard to challenge oppression in whatever forms it takes.
**Tell me a bit more about the services where the role will be based**
This is a new role, where the successful applicant will be required to work across our Suffolk cluster services. These services are commissioned to provide support to people who are experiencing mental health difficulties and consist of 24h hour accommodation based services in both Ipswich and Bury St Edmunds.
These services provide support to people considered to have a higher level of support needs, requiring staff to be on site throughout the day, evening and night time. These services offer people a wide range of emotional and practical support.
There are also community outreach services, known as the Pathway & Recovery Teams in both Ipswich and Bury St Edmunds, who are part of the cluster model. They provide support to people living in lower level supported accommodation, where staff are not based on site, providing appointment based support. These teams also provide support to people in their own homes and other community settings.
**Tell me a bit more about Role**
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Julian Support, as a Peripatetic Recovery Coordinator. Due to the nature of this role, a full driving licence and access to a car is essential. Business mileage is payable when using your vehicle to travel from your base.
The role requires you to work Monday - Friday, between the hours of 09:00-17.00, although some flexibility is welcomed when required.
The role will be based in either the Ipswich or Bury St Edmunds 24-hour services, depending on which location is closest for the successful applicant.
The Peripatetic Recovery Coordinator role, will require you to attend our sites across Ipswich and Bury St Edmunds. You will be working in partnership with the people we support, building upon their strengths and enabling them to engage with resources available. Some of the areas include social inclusion, budgeting, emotional support, accessing the community and tenancy management. You will be involved in signposting and supporting people, to access other services. You will be confident in contacting and supporting the people you work with, to liaise with a range of other professionals, as well as those within Julian Support. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
You will be responsible for managing a caseload of people, where as well as providing practical support, you will need to complete all necessary paperwork, electronic records and data inputting within designated timescales. You will be completing support plans and risk assessments, in partnership with the people you support. You will need to have excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage your own workload.
As a Peripatetic Recovery Coordinator, you will be required to provide encouragement and support to those experiencing mental health difficulties, enabling them to achieve higher levels of independence. Experience of working with a client group who experience mental health issues and the challenges they may face would be an advantage, although not essential.
Working with the teams, you will provide a strengths-based approach to support whilst having an understanding of the Recovery Model. The role also requires a high level of lone working in the community, so important to be motivated and work as an individual, as well as part of a team.
You will be required to work across Julian Support’s Suffolk services, where you are needed most at any one time. Therefore, the ability to travel and quickly develop strong working relationships will be important.
**Essential Criteria**
1. Proven experience of writing reports, and completing all relevant paperwork to the highest standard
2. Ability to develop and sustain working relationships with service users and other professionals
3. Ability to demonstrate emotional resilience when faced with difficult and personally demanding situations
4. A creative and resourceful approach to problem solving and support planning.
5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
6. Experience of empowering people to speak up and take responsibility.
7. Ability to work within defined timescales and to maintain clear and accurate records.
8. Ability to work independently and a commitment to participate in team working.
9. Proven commitment to user involvement and equal opportunities.
10. Ability and willingness to travel with access to a vehicle for business use.
