Job Title: Lecturer - English (for Work-Based Learning Apprentices)
Reporting To: Team Leader (ESOL, English & Maths)
**The primary purpose of this job role is to;**
Provide high quality teaching and access to learning. It is expected that the post holder will contribute
to course design, development of programmes and the expansion of the area generally.
To teach Functional Skills English/GCSE English to learners on apprenticeship programmes.
The primary duties, tasks and responsibilities of this job role are to;
1. Deliver high quality teaching and learning to a timetable that may include evening, Saturday and
non
- term times.
1.1. Deliver Functional Skills Level 1 and Level 2 short intensive courses to apprentices.
1.2. Deliver inspirational teaching and access to learning across a range of programmes,
including GCSE.
1.3. Provide teaching and assessment opportunities in line with the relevant awarding body
requirements to promote access to achievement.
1.4. Prepare and adapt teaching materials including handouts, assignments, booklists and
assessment papers, to enable all learners to progress.
1.5. Prepare Schemes of Work and Schemes of Assessment.
1.6. Undertake the necessary administrative tasks required for the effective operation of
programmes in the area, including updating Smart Assessor for each learner.
1.7. Carry out moderation/assessment and verification.
1.8. Contribute to the College quality cycle
1.9. Work with colleagues to integrate Functional Skills into the vocational curriculum.
1.10. Integrate personal development themes and behaviour and attitude themes into the delivery
model, including, health and wellbeing, Prevent and radicalisation.
1.11.Interview and assess students, ensuring appropriate ILPs are developed for all learners.
Meet study support procedures and ensure all CRC study support paperwork is completed
accurately, timely and returned to MIS for audit and funding claims.
2. Undertake tutorial responsibilities.
2.1. Track and review student progress and maintain student records including Smart Assessor,
Promonitor and Markbook.
2.2. Provide feedback on progress to the student and Vocational Department.
3. Assist in the recruitment and admission of new students.
3.1. Assist in recruitment and admission of new students.
3.2. Attend promotional events to publicise College and Departmental activities.
3.3. Contribute to the compilation of publicity materials.
4. Team administration, liaison and development.
4.1. Communicate effectively with other team members.
4.2. Participate in team meetings and course team reviews and evaluation.
4.3. Respond to curriculum development and new course initiatives originating from within the
Academy/College.
4.4. Undertake course leadership responsibilities and duties, as allocated.
4.5. Advise on resource requirements for effective implementation of programmes.
4.6. Liaise with external awarding bodies representatives e.g. External Verifiers/moderators.
4.7. Liaising with employers and assessors.
4.8. Complete all administrative tasks in a timely manner.
5. Professional development and industrial links.
5.1. Develop industrial links with other professionals within the industry
5.2. Maintain personal research or professional practice in own specialist area for own personal
professional development.
5.3. Familiarise yourself with and adhere to CRC college procedures.
6. Know and abide by Health and Safety rules within the College and external premises.
