Your new role

National Highways is recruiting for a Counter Fraud Officer. You will assist in the prevention and detection of economic crime. You will investigate economic crime ad whistleblowing concerns in line with applicable laws and regulations. You will conductproactive reviews of working arrangements across the business, to help mitigate economic crime risks from systems, policies and processes.

What you’ll be leading on

You will assist in the design and implementation of preventative and detective controls to prevent economic crime. This will help to identify irregularities and inefficiencies in business processes.
You will report and track risks as appropriate, ensuring effective controls are in place and will test and update in a timely manner.
You will assist with planning and scoping investigations, proactive counter fraud assignments and integrated assurance reviews. You will deliver fieldwork and report findings and opinions, meeting quality and professional standards.
You will represent the Counter Fraud Team in dealings with internal and external stakeholders and organisations.
You will deliver economic crime awareness training across the Company and the National Highways supply Chain.
You will report on the outcome of investigations and to ensure management actions are owned and implemented, as and when appropriate.
You will represent the Company at any subsequent criminal, civil court or employment tribunal as a result of counter fraud work.
You will act in a professional manner at all times.
To be successful

Experience in writing and managing reports for a variety of stakeholders including the board and executives.
Commercially aware and able to effectively deploy a risk-based approach when evaluating new fraud initiatives.
Knowledge of civil engineering, contract management, procurement and supply chain fraud schemes are desirable.
Prepared to work towards Accredited Counter Fraud Specialist or Association of Certified Fraud Examiners status (or equivalent) or studying towards these or similar qualifications.
