Fantastic opportunities have arisen to join BEAR Scotland’s NW team as a Senior Network Roads/Asset Inspector based at our Inverness office.

The North West Unit covers a huge area of Scotland, from Thurso and Wick in the very north of the Highlands down to Campbeltown in Argyll and Bute, from Uig on Skye to Perth and Stirling in the central belt.

A Senior Network Roads/Asset Inspector will carry out of a range of inspections on the trunk road network as required by the terms of the Transport Scotland Network Management Contract for the North West Unit.

**Responsibilities and Activities**:

- ** **Undertaking weekly daytime Safety Inspections and Safety Patrols to record defects that represent a hazard to the travelling public and, where safe to do so, carrying out minor repairs.
- Undertaking six-monthly night-time Safety Inspections of reflective assets.
- Walked condition inspections to validate and visually assess the condition of the assets to identify defects that will contribute to the establishment of programmes of routine maintenance tasks that do not require urgent attention.
- Ad hoc inspections to verify defects reported by external parties.
- Carry out minor cyclic maintenance activities where safe to do so.
- Liaison with members of the public as required.
- Maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
- Ensuring that inspection data is downloaded to the Transport Scotland Asset Management Performance system in accordance with the timescales set by the Transport Scotland Network Management Contract for the North West Unit.
- Training and mentoring Trainee Network Roads Inspectors.
- In the absence of the Network Data Specialist ensuring that inspections are completed as programmed.
- Other inspection duties applicable to the post as directed from time to time by the Network Data Manager / Network Data Specialist.

**Knowledge, Skills and Experience**:

- Good Knowledge and understanding of the Trunk Road Information Manuals
- A full approved UK driving licence.
- An appreciation of relevant Health and Safety legislation.
- Good computer skills including the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and work under pressure.
- Ability to work effectively in a team.
- Ability to solve problems.
- Ability to assess risks.
- Flexible attitude to working hours.
- Capable of self-management and self-motivation.
