**Access to Records Officer
**Eden Brown Synergy is currently working in partnership with a Public Sector Organisation in Peterborough which is looking to recruit an Access to Records Officer on an interim basis. The post holder will assist and support the Governance Team and Legal Services in providing a comprehensive and effective access service relating to the disclosure and redaction of personal information held in paper and computer files.

**As an Access to Records Officer you will**:

- Undertake case work as directed by the Information Specialist relating to the access to records under the Data Protection Act 1998 by members of the public, third parties such as solicitors and law enforcement agencies
- Prepare and issue children's social care files as directed and under the supervision of the Information Specialist and Senior Child Protection Lawyer, with appropriate redactions.
- Ensure that the delivery of the access records is within the statutory timescales
- Advise the council's customers and carers concerning their rights under the Data Protection Act 199
- Support the staff of the service e.g., undertaking research into data protection matters or clerical duties as required

**Experience & Qualifications Required**:

- Experience of handling sensitive personal information and records management
- Experience of working within a local authority/social care environment
- Experience of redacting information from documents
- Practical and theoretical understanding of the Data Protection Act 1998, Children's Act 1989 and other legislation relevant to the access to records
- Effective communication skills both oral and written.
- Ability to undertake heavy workload and meet prescribed deadlines.
- Attention to detail, ability to obtain and record information accurately and to check all work to assure quality.
- Ability to use a range of IT systems to ensure work is undertaken effectively

This is a temporary contract, initially for 3 months paying £140 per day umbrella inside IR35, on a 4 day a week part time basis. The role will be hybrid.
