**Job Title**:Head of Services**

**Reports to: CEO**

**Hours: 25 per week**

**Salary**: **£35K per annum, pro rata**
Job Summary
The role of the Head of Services is to ensure successful operational management of the organisation ensuring the charity delivers excellent services at all times in line with regulatory body frameworks. Supporting the project managers and CEO with all areas of operations, including:

- Responsible for compliance across the whole organisation, keeping up to date with regulations and legislation, ensuring services at all times adhere to these and staff follow policies and procedures at all times.
- Oversee the delivery of our services and ensure that they remain at a consistently high quality and are safe and responsive to the needs of our service users and the wider community.
- Ensure that the provision of services meets the needs of families and our target groups through analysis and intelligent use of our data to accurately inform the development of provision in the area; the monitoring of impact and consultation with partners and users.
- Build robust quality assurance and monitoring systems to ensure a safe working environment.
- Create robust evaluation and impact frameworks in line with regulatory and funder stipulations, analyse finding and create regular reports as required.
- Safeguarding Designated Lead with the CEO.
- Develop enhanced safeguarding systems and ensure staff adhere to these.
- Ensure that all staff have had the appropriate level of essential training, and that relevant policies are in place and regularly reviews and shared.
- Ensure staffing levels and are appropriate and skills are utilised to maximum effect in the delivery of key objectives and improving outcomes.
- Implement a manage marketing and communications framework for the charity.
- Support the CEO with new income generation streams and activities.
- Support the CEO with strategic planning and implementation.
- Deputise for the CEO as required.
- Support the project managers to be effective, efficient and supported in their roles.

Compliance
- Lead on preparations for OFSTED inspections. Identify other relevant quality standard accreditations and manage these.
- Develop and establish high standards of practice and to be accountable for service delivery in line with departmental standards working autonomously but also accountable to the CEO.
- Develop Quality Assurance Frameworks, including Safeguarding.
- Support on any liaison with OFSTED as required.
- Work with the Senior Management Team to review, implement and audit processes and systems across the organisation.
- Oversee and monitor the regular updating of all operational policies and procedures, create and amend policies and procedures as necessary.
- Carry out regular audits and sessional spot checks to ensure service quality and that key policies and procedures are understood and adhered to by staff.
- Work with the service managers to support all areas of staff recruitment, induction, professional development and employee relations issues.
- Work with the service managers and the CEO to ensure monthly staff changes are communicated to our external payroll company.
- Assist with exit interviews and performance reviews as required.
- Process and check payroll payments.

People & Project Management
- Line manage the two project managers and other staff as required.
- Support managers with project development and new iniatives.
- Review with the CEO staff structures and roles in line with changing priorities and work loads
- Work with managers to ensure quality, compliance, safeguarding, reporting etc all recorded and adhered to.
- Create systems and processes to support delivery, enabling the project to grow and minimising areas of risk.
- Be a role model for the teams and lead by example.
- To undertake any other duties that may reasonably be required.

Person Specification
Essential Criteria
- Educated to degree level or above in a relevant area.
- Proven leadership skills.
- Knowledge and understanding of the mechanics of good teamwork and taking the lead role in the motivation and development of a team.
- Excellent communication skills: both written and verbal with colleagues and customers.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Undertaken recent safeguarding training.

Experience
- Demonstrable experience of managing a senior team.
- Demonstrable experience of delivering and managing projects.
- Substantial experience in developing and implementing processes and systems across an organisation.
- Experience in developing and overseeing control systems to ensure that all legal responsibilities and internal policies are adhered to.
- Demonstrable experience of managing within a children’s project or educational setting.
- Experience of professional supervision.
- Experience of working jointly with key partners in the voluntary sector.
- Experience of managing budgets and resources.
