Senior Support Worker

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a senior support worker to join the short breaks service for children with disabilities within City of York.

The service has relocated to a new purpose built centre for children with disabilities which ensures services for children with disabilities are innovative, flexible and integrated.

Our Short Breaks offer provides services for children with disabilities and their families based within one building. This includes;
- Community short breaks support services.
- Residential short breaks provision for children and young people with Autism, Learning Disabilities and/or additional complex health needs.

As a senior support worker, you will support the registered manager and deputy manager to oversee the community short breaks service. This will include organising shifts and rotas for support workers and completing tasks to support the day to day running of the service. You will take lead responsibility for the writing of care plans, Positive Behaviour Support plans, Risk Assessments and other documentation for identified children and young people. You may be required to cover shifts supporting children and young people within the community.

You may also be required to cover and lead shifts within the residential service. This would include planning and arranging the day to day running of shifts and organising staffing.

All of the above will involve supporting, guiding, coaching and monitoring Support Workers. You will take lead responsibility for key working individual children and young people and lead responsibility for specific shifts. This role will require some weekend and evening work and will be based on a 4 week rolling rota.
