We have an exciting new opportunity for a **Business Development Manager**to join our partnerships team her at Markel International. The role will report into the Head of Partnerships Development and you’ll be responsible for generating new business within the Partnerships channel. The focus of the Business Development Managerrole is to develop new business across National Market’s full product and service range, with a key focus on Before The Event (BTE) Insurance. In addition to BTE, there is a strong focus on developing new Partners across the wider suite of products and services,working closely with the Head of Partnerships Development to meet targets and growth ambitions.

**What you’ll be doing**:

- Development of new sales to prospective Partners, both for BTE and wider Markel product & services distribution
- Further develop Partnership proposition in line with channel new business campaigns
- Build pipeline of new business prospects, engage with new contacts and build relationships
- Use network to identify new prospects that fit with Partnership strategic aims and build market profile of Markel and the Partnerships channel
- Build solid relationships with key internal teams, including underwriting, claims, marketing, compliance and legal
- Develop awareness of competition and competitors actions, and feedback into the channel and marketing team
- Be the centre point for all new business enquiries that are driven from multiple sources, including internal from across the wider Markel network, referrals and own generated network

**What we’re looking for**:

- Previous experience in BTE and commercial insurance
- Legal Expenses Insurance experience is a bonus
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral and ability to confidently present and develop pitches for new business opportunities
- Self-motivation to work independently sourcing new leads as well as fulfilling key development tasks working as part of a wider development team
- Excellent time keeping and a methodical working structure
