**About the team & role**

Gloucestershire County Council has an exciting opportunity for an individual looking for their first steps into the Trading Standards profession.

Working with our professional and friendly team carry out an important role ensuring a safe and fair-trading environment for both consumers and businesses. As part of the Trading Standards team, you will provide advice and guidance to businesses on their legal rights and responsibilities and investigate cases of unfair trading and illegal business activity, like rogue traders and scams.

You will work closely with officers across a wide range of enforcement activities including product safety, food standards, animal health and welfare and weights and measures, with opportunities from the start to carry out activities in your own right.

**About you**

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual looking for a career in Trading Standards to join as an Authorised Enforcement Assistant. You should be good with people and able to think on your feet; you will need a minimum of five GCSEs (or equivalent) to level 2 or above including Maths and English and a full UK driving licence.

No prior enforcement or regulatory experience is necessary although you will need to understand working in a confidential office environment.

Sometimes the work may be distressing so resilience is key to the role.

We offer a full training package, coupled with continuous on the job training from our team of officers, who will support you to become a fully qualified Trading Standards Professional.
