**Job summary**:
The HR team at the Planning Inspectorate has been through a successful period of growth and transformation and continues to develop to ensure we can provide strategic and day-to-day HR support.

This role is a key part of the HR team focused on supporting complex casework, overseeing HR policies and processes, and supporting in the delivery people-related projects. This role comes with team management of two HR Support Officers. The success of this role is reliant on effective collaboration, working closely with our HR Business Partnering, Learning and Development, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and Health & Safety teams as well as our non-HR stakeholders.

**Job description**:
What a typical week looks like:

- Drafting and updating HR policy
- Improving and documenting people processes and ensuring these are communicated effectively
- Team management activities, managing our HR Support Officers
- Providing support to line managers across the business, delegating and escalating queries as required
- Data reporting and providing insight and analysis to our HRBPs to be shared with senior leaders
- Contributing to people projects to deliver our strategic ambitions

**Hybrid working**

All of our office-based roles are contractually located at Temple Quay House in Bristol. Most of our roles are able to work in a hybrid manner and you will be expected to attend Temple Quay House at least 12 days a year. Depending on your role, you may be required to attend more often than 12 days a year either permanently or temporarily to ensure we deliver our services in the most efficient and effective way for our customers. **Person specification**:
**Essential Criteria**
- Experience of drafting and introducing HR policy and guidance through effective collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
- Experience of having dealt with the complex Employee relations issues with a strong understanding of the risks involved and the impact different decisions have on the business.
- Experience of giving in depth advice to key stakeholders in the business in a clear and accessible way.
- Experience of changing and improving HR processes to minimise risk and maximise team efficiency.
- Excellent organisational and project management skills.
- Effective communication

**Desirable Criteria**
- CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development) qualified to level 5 or equivalent or a willingness to study towards this qualification
- Experience of dealing with Trade Unions or working in a unionised environment
