**Responsible to** Head of Facilities

**Contract** Permanent

**Hours** 40 hours per week, 5 days out of 7. Evening and weekend work will be necessary. Any overtime to be agreed in advance and compensated through time off in lieu (TOIL).

**Salary** £22,400 per annum

**ABOUT HAREWOOD**

Harewood House Trust is an educational charity which engages nearly 300,000 visitors every year through our three outstanding collections - art, garden and living - with a 30-year commitment to contemporary programming that links them. It is one of England’s finest 18th century country houses, with a magnificent collection of fine and decorative arts; an accredited museum, with a nationally designated collection, it is also the family seat of the Earl and Countess of Harewood.

As an educational charitable trust, Harewood’s key objectives are:

- to preserve for the benefit of the public the House, Gardens and Collections
- to promote the study and appreciation of the arts and sciences
- to provide facilities for recreation.

Alongside the care, conservation and interpretation of the core collection, Harewood runs a series of innovative exhibitions of contemporary as well as historic art. The Trust also has a commercial arm that manages its trading operation including major outdoor events, conferences, corporate functions, fine dining, cafés and other retail and food outlets throughout the site.

In 2021, Harewood celebrated 250 years since the House was completed. The Trust has great ambitions for Harewood’s future, as well as celebrating its fascinating past, including working on a masterplan to ensure Harewood’s conservation, its longevity and its relevance to audiences today. The Masterplan encompasses several capital projects to grow our audiences, generate new income and provide an excellent visitor experience. It includes development of a new Visitor Centre and car park, restoration of the Walled Garden, and conversion of a listed building back into a family and creative space, and new play.

**JOB SUMMARY**

The Facilities team is responsible for the operational management and smooth day-to-day running of Harewood’s properties and facilities focusing on maintenance, cleanliness and security.

Reporting to the Head of Facilities, you will support the provision of effective repairs, maintenance and improvements whilst ensuring high standards of compliance, Health & Safety and reporting.

The role of Facilities Assistant is to support the Head of Facilities in providing an effective and proactive service to site including both planned and reactive works, a vital role for the Trust ranging across the diverse number and type of activities.

**MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE**
- Assisting the Head of Facilities to deliver planned and reactive maintenance including repairs and improvements.
- Arranging and supervising sub-contractors carrying out scheduled maintenance tasks on site and assisting where required.
- Liaising with suppliers and service providers carrying out reactive maintenance callouts and deliveries.
- Responding to requests from other Harewood House Trust teams for practical assistance or to deal with a fault, breakdown or incident and updating the maintenance logs.
- Carrying out pre-planned minor repairs, maintenance and improvement tasks.
- Carrying out daily, weekly and monthly scheduled inspections such as refrigeration plant room, emergency light testing, fire hydrants, water sampling and temperature testing, ensuring that log books are updated.
- Collaborating with colleagues in the Cleaning and Grounds teams to ensure that tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
- Assisting the Head of Facilities to ensure the accurate and timely completion of maintenance logs, servicing schedules to comply with relevant statutory duties and in-house policies.
- Administering the Health & Safety files, including risk assessments, codes of practice, accident reports.
- Maintaining relevant records and files, online and hard copies.
