This is a major global Transport & Logistics business with operations around the globe and a growing presence in the UK providing Road Freight and Contract Logistics services to their customer base. They are now seeking a commercially-driven Sales Manager to both sell and provide direction and management to their sales team. The role will suit either an existing Sales Manager or a Business Development Manager looking to step into a management role.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage a sales team comprising internal sales executives and an on the road BDM to drive commercial revenues.
Build and nurture strong relationships with new and existing customers promoting their road freight services
Re-organise the approach of internal sales team to spot quoting and rate negotiation.
Use active sales approaches, prospecting and cold approaches to Identify and target new customers.
Prepare and present proposals, quotes and pricing to potential customers
Negotiate contract terms.
Monitor and track sales performance using relevant metrics and analytics.
Represent the company at industry events, tradeshows and conferences.
Key Skills/Experience:

Proven track record of successful business development and sales experience within the UK and European road transport and logistics industry.
Strong understanding of transport & logistics operations, processes, and industry best practice.
Proficient understanding of road freight operations encompassing FTL/LTL, import/export regulations and customs
Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
Proficient in the use of CRM systems
Able to lead and develop a small team.
