The Company:

The Role:

As Health & Safety Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that construction sites meet all health and safety standards and that the business has the correct accreditations and procedures in place to thrive safely. You will work closely with Senior Management and site-based delivery teams to develop and implement safety policies, procedures and best practices that comply with all relevant regulations and standards. You will also oversee safety training and development programs for employees, monitor safety performance metrics and provide regular safety reports to senior management.

This role would suit an experienced candidate, or an ambitious professional looking to step up into a lead position.

Responsibilities:

* Advise Board of Directors on and agree HSQE Strategy for Business.

* Manage and Support Development of HSQE Trainee.

* Produce, review, and maintain HSQE Policies, Procedures, Guidance, Forms and Records (develop and maintain the Integrated Business Management System).

* Play a key role in auditing process for the Business Management System for the ISO (phone number removed), & 45001 Accreditations.

* Carry out risk assessments and supporting site teams when producing RAMS.

* Based on risk assessments, advise on, and implement safe operational procedures which identify and consider all relevant hazards.

* Monthly SHE Inspections for all sites with follow up on actions.

* Maintain accreditations (CHAS, Constructionline Gold).

* Managing Training, General advice and upskilling of all company and site operatives to promote safer working practices.

* In-house training with managers and employees about health, safety, and environmental issues and risks.

* Investigate Accidents/Incidents, produce reports and complete RIDDOR reports.

* Maintain HSQE Statistics information and produce quarterly SHE Dashboard.

* Produce management reports, newsletters, and bulletins.

* Prepare agenda, minutes for and chair quarterly SHE & BPQA Committees.

* Online Induction Portal administration incl. verification of CSCS (etc.) Cards.

* Assist in the management of the Approved Sub-Contractor Register.

* Management of occupational health monitoring scheme and records.

* Arrange and monitor Management Referrals.

* Provide support as a Mental Health First Aider.

* Ensure equipment is installed and used safely.

* Initial preparation of site folders and documentation including CPHSP.

* Assist in the preparation of RAMS for CBC Staff.

* Produce Management Plans, advise, and monitor on the safe disposal of hazardous substances, e.g. asbestos.

* Monitor environmental performance and identify failings or improvements required.

* Keep up to date with and maintain a working knowledge of all relevant legislation and update the business on developments that affect our undertakings.

* Ensure preparation of project HSQE folders.

* Assist Pre-Construction Department with PQQ/ITT Submission for all HSQE Criteria.

Requirements:

At least 3 years of experience in health and safety management within the construction industry, ideally for a regional main contractor.

Excellent knowledge of health and safety regulations and standards.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Experience in delivering/assisting with safety training and development programs.

Qualifications & Experience:

NEBOSH Diploma, APS (incorporated member), IOSH (Technical or higher grade) or equivalent qualification.

Construction-relevant certification is desirable but not essential.

Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant industry software.

Full UK driving licence.
