Job introduction

We are looking for skilled and experienced Counsellors, who are qualified to work with young people. You willbe part of a pilot project providing counselling within secondary schools to Year 9 pupils, on an individual casework basis within school settings.

You will be part of the Schools Mental Health Service and will have the benefits of working within a multi disciplinary team, which will include full supervision.


Fixed term for: 12 months, September 24 - September 25

About the role

You will be working in education settings, providing evidence-based treatments for young people in Year 9 (aged 13-14 yrs) who are presenting with psychological and emotional issues, under supervision. This will involve individual clinical work. Working within the BACP ethical framework and a CYP Counselling competence framework linked to professional standards.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to work to a system of processes and procedures, recording and providing information accurately and timely when required.
  • Ability to organise own clinical/administrative duties
  • Ability to work within a context of evidence-based counselling, performance evaluation and monitoring
  • Ability to monitor own competency and limitations and the ability to seek appropriate advice at an early stage.
  • Ability to manage a defined caseload if required.
  • Ability to be an autonomous practitioner whilst being able to work as an integral part of a multi agency locality team
Additional information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hoursor term-time only.
