Our boundary-pushing music programme is renowned for its range, ambition, and inclusivity. Working to the Artist Hires & Planning Manager, the Planning and Partnerships Manager will develop, negotiate, organise and implement the Barbican Centre’s artistic rental programme across both the Concert Hall and Milton Court, nurture relationships with our family of partner organisations, and maintain and enhance the Barbican’s standing as a world class multi-arts venue.
This role will be the key planning contact for Barbican’s artistic partners, with a particular focus on the programme in the Guildhall School’s Milton Court, and for fostering good relationships and enterprising opportunities. The Planning & Partnerships Manager will determine the suitability of rental proposals in both halls and cultivate a creative and entrepreneurial approach to developing new relationships with artists and promoters, in line with the Barbican’s Audience Development and Purposeful Programming and EDI strategies. The Planning & Partnerships Manager also plays a key role in liaising with the Barbican’s Creative Collaborations department and their own music programming in the venue.
Good knowledge of the music industry, and a thorough understanding of all the creative processes of music
Experience of dealing with promoters, artists, classical repertoire, international orchestras, conductors and soloists.
A high degree of computer proficiency (including Word, Access & Excel).
The ability to work independently in a multi-task environment as well as part of a dynamic and supportive team is essential, as is an independent, flexible approach to problem-solving.
