An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated pharmacist to join the fabulous North East London (NEL) ICB Pharmacy and Medicines Optimisation team. The team works as a multi-disciplinary group of individuals, who operate with a broad range of skills and experience. We are key enablers for collaboration and integration across all health and social care partners in the NEL Integrated Care System. As a team player you will be supported to fully commit to this way of working, especially with regards to transformational work with medicines and pharmacy.

The NEL Pharmacy and Medicines Optimisation team is working to achieve equitable access and outcomes of medicines for local people across North East London, working with a wide range of stakeholders and professionals to deliver outputs for our residents that support cost effective, safe prescribing with access to evidence-based medicines.

Main duties of the job

As the Head of Medicines Optimisation- Place based Partnerships, you will have a pivotal role in shaping the delivery of medicines optimisation across five North East London place-based teams. You will work collaboratively across directorates and stakeholders across the ICS to ensure consistent standards and messaging while addressing local needs and reducing inequalities.

In this role you will have the opportunity to drive transformative change, uphold clinical excellence and contribute to the organisation's overarching mission of delivering high-quality patient centred care. You will also oversee community pharmacy integration within the ICS, with key projects including supporting the ICB in the scaling and embedding of existing and new community pharmacy clinical services and delivery of the local pharmacy self care service.

Joining our team will give you the support and opportunity to further develop your abilities as a senior leader, as you navigate working across both the ICB Pharmacy and Medicines Optimisation Team and the wider ICS.

Education / Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Educated to degree level in Pharmacy - MPharm or equivalent qualification
  • Additional postgraduate clinical and managerial qualification or significant experience of working at a similar level in specialist area
  • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council of Great Britain

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Extensive, community and /or hospital pharmacy experience or experience of providing prescribing support to primary care organisations or practices.
  • Experience of leading and managing a team of staff
  • Experience of co-ordinating projects in complex and challenging environments

Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • Excellent working knowledge of national and local pharmaceutical and prescribing policies, clinical governance, information governance, legislation and guidance which relates to medicines supply, prescribing and practice.
  • Knowledge of commissioning frameworks for drugs
