Business Development Director

Our client, a leading developer of utility-scale solar, wind, storage, and green-hydrogen projects globally, is looking to appoint their Business Development Director – Storage. As part of exciting growth plans in 2024, the Business Development Director – Storage will hold significant importance in fulfilling ambitious targets for standalone and co-located storage development across Europe, initially focusing on new markets.
The Business Development Director – Storage will spearhead the implementation of commercial and technical strategies, collaborating closely with local development teams, co-development partners, as well as providing support to the wind and green hydrogen teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of new projects to achieve targets in diverse markets, supported by local teams.
- Utilise market-specific knowledge to formulate project strategies, considering grid connections and revenue streams.
- Analyse competition and evaluate market potential.
- Coordinate with grid consultants and contribute to BESS financial modeling for investment decisions.
- Prepare and present investment committee materials.
- Communicate effectively on commercial and technical fronts within the organization and with partners, especially in BESS business modeling.
- Build and maintain relationships with industry stakeholders.
Key Requirements:
- 3+ years’ experience in BESS systems with a focus on both technical and commercial aspects.
- Deep understanding of storage market dynamics, revenue models, and regulatory frameworks.
- Familiarity with grid networks and operations (Desirable).
- Knowledgeable about solar and wind technologies (Desirable).
- Experience in BESS design, procurement, and familiarity with HV equipment and substation design principles (Desirable)
- Must be willing and able to travel frequently.
