Whether you are an established teacher or an ECT wishing to start your teaching career, if you are ambitious, have a passion for English and are able to deliver lessons that are exciting, engaging and inclusive then we wish to hear from you. The English department work collaboratively and with real enthusiasm to design engaging schemes of learning, which help to develop, for our pupils, a love of English Literature and appreciation for the global significance of English Language. We offer an array of extra-curricular activities with the English Department including extremely successful Debate Mate teams and visits, competitions and additional learning opportunities to help to inspire our pupils.
In October 2019, Ofsted confirmed SMA as a good school where all pupils, through their hard work and commitment, are able to ‘let their light shine’. In Feb 2023, our CSI inspection stated ‘The behaviour of pupils is exemplary in lessons and around the school, and strong and positive relationships are evident throughout the school.’ We are proud that our pupils are able to learn in a disruption free environment resulting in strong progress for all. We are now pursuing our mission to embed ourselves as a truly great school at the heart of the community we serve.
