Verus Recruitment Partners is proud to represent a leading specialist manufacturing company, seeking a highly skilled and experienced Department Engineer to join their team at the Stocksbridge facility. This is a fantastic opportunity to take on a leadership role, overseeing engineering operations and driving continuous improvement within a dynamic and innovative environment.

As Department Engineer, you will lead and develop a team of skilled engineers and craftsmen, ensuring the effective maintenance and improvement of all assets, services, and infrastructure within your department. Your role will focus on driving operational excellence, implementing engineering projects, and promoting sustainable outcomes across the site.

Lead, mentor, and coach a dynamic engineering team, fostering talent development and future leadership.
Manage the engineering budget for your department, driving cost-efficiency while maintaining high standards.
Collaborate with the Plant Manager to determine asset strategies and implement improvement plans.
Develop and execute engineering projects (capital and operational) that align with business goals.
Enhance plant reliability by driving improvements in maintenance standards and reducing downtime.
Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental, and quality standards through rigorous audit schedules.
Work closely with internal teams, consultants, and suppliers to achieve project goals.
Promote a culture of operational discipline, high performance, and adherence to critical controls.
We are seeking a performance-driven professional with strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a passion for exceeding expectations. Relevant engineering qualifications (HNC or higher) with at least 5 years' experience in a supervisory or technical role.
Extensive plant engineering experience, including machinery and control systems.
Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills, with a collaborative approach to solutions.
Proficiency in using CMMS and MS Office.
Experience with vacuum induction furnaces, arc remelting furnaces, and heat treatment furnaces.
Knowledge of three-phase systems, AC/DC equipment, and PLCs (Allen-Bradley/Siemens).
Understanding of steel manufacturing processes and how engineering parameters affect product quality.
Experience in team development, including succession planning and career progression strategies.
Competitive salary circa £57,000 DOE
