Head of Platforms Engineering

Establish and manage a Platforms Engineering team that is effective, efficient, and proactive at provisioning platform engineering services. This role is critical in shaping and executing our cloud infrastructure strategy, ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance across our systems. The role oversees teams responsible for Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Cloud Platforms, Environment management and Deployment Engineering, and Cloud Database Engineering, with a strong focus on Microsoft Azure technologies.
Define and execute the platform engineering strategy, organisation and standard operating procedures aligned with business goals and needs of the technology organisation.
Lead and mentor cross-functional teams including SREs, cloud platform specialists, environment and deployment engineers, and database engineers.
Proven experience in a senior platform, infrastructure, or environment engineering leadership role.
Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure cloud services and architecture.
Strong background in SRE principles, environment and deployment automation, and cloud-native technologies.
Hands-on experience with tools such as Terraform, Kubernetes, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, and monitoring stacks (e.g., PagerDuty, Opsgenie, VictorOps, ServiceNow, Azure Alerts)
Synthetic Monitoring & APM tools (e.g. Solid understanding of cloud database technologies and data engineering principles.
