About the Company

The company is a prominent player in the agriculture and livestock nutrition industry, with a focus on improving animal performance and well-being. As the company continues to expand, it seeks a Commercial Director to lead the Commercial function of the group and as a member of the Senior Leadership.

Main Job Function

The Commercial Director will have direct leadership responsibility for the Commercial team, which includes; Trading, Procurement and Pricing. This role will work in conjunction with the CEO and CFO to define and execute the short- and long-term strategies and goals of the Group.

The Opportunity:

Trading

  • Develop and manage the execution, and delivery of the trading strategy for the Group,
  • Work with the revenue stream directors to ensure the trading strategy meets the ongoing business requirements
  • Work with the Technical and Compliance teams to ensure compliance with current and upcoming legislation advising on required changes as required

Purchasing and Procurement

  • Develop and manage the execution and delivery of the Groups’ purchasing and procurement strategy. This includes all areas of procurement in particular raw materials and retail goods
  • Works with the procurement team and stakeholders to improve business performance and processes

Pricing

  • Develop and manage the execution and delivery of the Group’ pricing and costing strategies, including agreeing pricing policies with the revenue stream directors

Cross Commercial functional responsibilities

  • Delivers accurate forecasting and reporting for all areas for the Board of Directors and relevant stakeholders to drive business performance
  • Develop and implement SOPs for the commercial function
  • Develop KPIs for the commercial functions to drive continuous improvement and ongoing business development in the industry
  • Work as part of the wider Senior Leadership team to drive the overall strategy for the business
  • Provide ongoing market trends and competitor activity feedback to consistently inform the development of the commercial operation and the wider business
  • Act as an escalation point for complex commercial issues and raise key commercial issues with the Board if required

Background and Experience:

Qualifications and Skills

  • Educated to degree level
  • Highly numerate with strong data comprehension skills
  • Demonstrable of evidence of experience and success in complex multifunctional, fast moving commercial environments
  • Significant commercial experience including trading, purchasing and procurement and pricing
  • Proven track record of delivering noteworthy contribution to business commercial functions and strategies, on a large and complex scale
  • Demonstrable evidence of developing and sustaining positive working relationships as a Senior level, including the ability to negotiate and to influence the customer commercial agenda.
