United Kingdom Paloma Health Full time €70,000

About Paloma Health

We provide families with high quality specialist NHS care within 4 weeks of GP referral.

Our first service, children and young people’s autism assessments went live in November 2024 and we are launching ADHD assessments and treatment in 2025.

We were founded as don’t think it is right that families are waiting 2-5 years for NHS children’s autism and ADHD assessments, and this crisis has recently been highlighted by the Children’s Commissioner for England:

Neurodiversity services are our first step to tackling all NHS specialist care waiting lists. We will launch more NHS services soon including for adult autism and ADHD, memory assessments, paediatric allergy, and dermatology.

How is Paloma different?

  • We are clinically-led and Care Quality Commission (CQC) registered, with a friendly and approachable team
  • We have built our own patient record IT system to: Give our patients a more consumer-like experience of healthcare and free our clinicians from admin to focus on patient care
  • Our strong culture, including transparency, a sense of community, and supporting staff career development
  • The experience of our founders (Dr Mark Jenkins & Darshak Shah), who have previously built tech-enabled NHS obesity and ophthalmology services. Combined their previous companies have treated over 1 million NHS patients in the last 15 years
  • Being backed by leading healthcare investors (Triple Point Ventures and Heal Capital), allowing us to move fast

The Opportunity

As the Head of People, you will lead our People function, driving key initiatives strategy, culture, team engagement, learning & development, policies, compliance, and process excellence. You will ensure Paloma Health continues to be a great place to work.

In this newly created role, you’ll work closely with our co-founders to develop and deliver our People strategy. As our People Team is 2 people (the Head of and a People Associate), you will be very hands-on, writing/reviewing policies, writing contracts, running engagement surveys and coaching our line managers on people development.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a fast-growing organisation and have a significant impact on both our team and the patients we serve. With success in the role you can progress to our ‘People Director’ in time.

Responsibilities

  • People Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive People strategy aligned with our vision, mission and values. Partner with our co-founders to ensure excellence in organisational design, talent management, and culture-building.
  • Leadership: Line Manage our People Associate. Create the job specifications for, and recruit, additional People Team roles as needed.
  • Culture and Team Engagement: Champion Paloma Health’s culture, fostering an inclusive, transparent, and community-oriented workplace. Design and implement initiatives to enhance employee engagement, including surveys, feedback loops, and team-building events. Ensure a high quality employee office experience, leading the management of our London office.
  • Learning and development: Review and improve our systems for learning, professional development, performance management, and career progression.
  • Policy and Compliance: Develop, update, and communicate People policies that align with healthcare standards and (NHS and CQC) regulatory requirements. Ensure compliance with employment laws, NHS and CQC people requirements whilst maintaining an empathetic and employee-focused approach.
  • People Processes Excellence: Build and refine People processes to streamline operations and improve the employee experience. Leverage technology to support people operations, data management, and reporting.

Who you are

You are a seasoned People professional with the ability to operate autonomously, thrive in ambiguity, and lead a function in a rapidly growing organisation. You are passionate about creating a positive and inclusive workplace culture and have the skills to drive both strategic and operational initiatives.

Qualifications and experience

Required:

  • Proven experience in a senior HR or People role in a fast growing organisation
  • Demonstrated ability to implement robust policies and processes, and enhance culture
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and regulatory compliance.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire diverse teams.
  • Empathy, adaptability, and a focus on employee well-being.
  • A track record of implementing innovation in People strategies, processes, and systems.

Desirable:

  • Deep understanding of Bamboo, our HR IT system
  • Experience working in a CQC registered healthcare setting, ideally in technology-enabled care
  • Familiarity with the NHS or other healthcare systems.

Don’t meet every requirement? Studies have shown that women and people from ethnic minority groups are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single qualification. At Paloma we are dedicated to building a diverse and top performing workplace, so if you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align with every qualification, we strongly encourage you to apply. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles

Why Join Us?

At Paloma Health, you’ll be part of a mission-driven organisation that’s transforming access to healthcare for patients in England. We offer:

  • A strong and positive culture prioritising staff well-being, transparency, and career development.
  • Protected time and budget for team connection, learning, and community-building.
  • Salary of £70,000 per year with flexibility based on experience.
  • Annual salary reviews, 5% employer pension, and company laptop.
  • Share options in Paloma Health, we all benefit from our success
  • A unique leave benefits package, including 25 days of annual leave, plus your birthday off, plus 10 days of paid sabbatical leave every three years.

Time commitment: Full time.

Location: Hybrid working, three days in the London office and two flexible for home or office.

Reporting to: Darshak Shah, co-founder and Executive Chair

Equality & Diversity:

Paloma Health is an equal-opportunity employer that is committed to diversity and inclusion both within the workplace and throughout our application process. We do not discriminate based on race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.

Application process (please read this)

Please include a cover letter in the same document as your CV, detailing what interests you about this role at Paloma and how you meet the requirements. All applications without a cover letter will be rejected. We take this approach to check attention to detail, and unfortunately the commonist reason we reject candidates is not including a cover letter.

The deadline for applications is Sunday 12th January 2025.

We understand that applying for a new job takes a lot of work and we value your time. We are looking forward to reading your application.

Join us in revolutionising access to NHS specialist care in England
